First Bike = 140kph (ZZR 250 @ 10000rpm - wasent going it too much)

Second Bike = 280kph (R9 @ 18000rpm)

Third Bike = almost 300

First Car = 150kph (torana @ 4700rpm LOL)

Second Car = 240kph+ (Pintara @ 8000rpm LOL)

Third Car = 180 (180SX @ 6400rpm)

Forth Car = 195kph (Magna @ 6000rpm)

Fifth Car = 240kph (Skyline @ 6100rpm)

All on dads property.... Really.... HAHAHAHA

Its also true the Pintara got 240+kph... It took me almost 5 minutes to achieve that speed and i had a mate on a bike beside me mesuring the speed. I broke the gaudge after that one, i would not go over 90kph again... LOL

Also the third bike mas a mates drag bike not a road bike, trust me the R9 at 280 was #!$@ un controlable i thought i saw my life flash before my eyes and have never and will never go that speed again on one wheel...LOL

This is probably the best description of speed I have seen!!! R33 doing 300+ km/h over Tokyo Bay bridge!!!! This and other movies can be found on Mario's site http://www.exvitermini.com/ in the movies section / various (most of you probably knew this!!)

Mario owns the fastest GTR in OZ!!!(probably knew that too!!!)

I too have hit the 180kph speed limiter!! have also done 278kph on my R6 motorbike(now destroyed due to my heavy right wrist!!) on a private road!!(my driveway ha ha :( )

Mostly on topic.

I've had my apparently stock R33 to 210(ish) at Eastern Creek, but no sign of the speed limiter cutting in. Are the speedos that innaccurate? Could the limit have been removed (if so, how could I tell)? For those who've hit it, a description of the effect would be appreciated - the redline 7,200 in fourth is approx 190, are you sure that's not what stopped you?

What rpm Duncan? I think it's about 40 kmh/1000rpm in 5th.

210 kmh=5250 rpm

No idea on what RPM in 5th - I'll take a quick peak next time.

But does anyone know the numbers for 4th? It was indicating approx 190 at 7,200 in 4th.

Or more to the point, how can the speedo be tested for accuracy?

Any GPS will be more accurate than a speedo. Handheld, dashmounted doesn't matter. Dash speed in your boat is probably taken from a revolving sensor in the water. Susceptible to weed etc, same with the Depth sounder usually. Also the GPS gives ground speed only, where the others are speed through the water with no correction for current.

  • 5 months later...

On F1 going to newcastle from sydney arvo hit the speed limiter it looked as if it went 20km pass the 180km on the speedo... so 200km/h? if you measure the spacing between the speeds..

=) well stayed their for half a minute before the orange engine light turned on.. wondered what that meant?..

200km/h in 4th gear at 6500rpm redline (car is only a 4 speed) With the work done to it it took no time to get there and would easily use 5th to its advantage. With one point left I think a 4 speed gets me into enough trouble..... never mind the noise the car makes over 4k rpm....

with me behind the wheel

190km/h in a 98 vs stock commo (mum's car :D)

Got the 88 vl, also stock to 160 but it didn't seem to like it much

mate behind the wheel with 5 in the car, 96 (i think) subaru liberty sedan to 180km/h

all this on the same stretch of uhh private road *cough* vs felt like it coulda gone alot further but the road has a hill that cops tend to sit on on the other side so you wanna be doin 120 before you hit the top of it.

when I get my line i know the speedlimiter will be one of the first things to go :)

    • When you crank your car, and hit it with a timing light, can you see a steady crank timing?
    • Oh, forgot to add, A few months ago I was getting mixture codes and the car was using crap loads of fuel. You could smell the unburned fuel in the exhaust, it was crazy strong. Economy was over 17.5 l/100 and usually around 19. I smoked the engine and found a leaky CCV hose which I replaced and then I replaced my two pre cat O2 sensors, I also replaced the MAF. This fixed my mixture codes and improved my exonomy but I'm still 14 - 15 l/100 when pottering about town so something is still amiss. Throttle response is much better and it has more pep but I'd like to know why it's still so thirsty (and I'm hoping that whatever it is gives me a bit more poke).

    • Hello all, currently finishing up a rb25 swap into my s14. Having issues with starting, car has spark (confirmed by pulling a plug and watching it spark), has fuel(confirmed by checking pulse/voltage at injectors all spark plugs are soaked in fuel). Car cranks over and pops into the exhaust with a heavy fuel smell but no attempt to start or run, I have torn the timing cover off and triple confirmed timing, turned the CAS in multiple spots both directions, attempted to start with coolant temp and maf unplugged, checked my fuel lines and made sure they weren’t backwards, checked voltage at cas/injectors/coilpacks, made sure all the grounds in the harness are connected and added a few grounding straps (1 from chassis to block, 1 from chassis to head, and 1 from chassis to igniter chip) I am getting stumped here. As a last ditch effort I made a full grounding harness tonight that’s going to run from the battery and add an extra ground from the battery onto the coil pack harness/igniter chip/ intake manifold/ Wiring specialties harness ground/ and alternator. I’m hoping maybe the grounding harness will fix it here but posting here to see if anyone has any other ideas on what else I can check. My fuel pressure is unknown right gauge will be here tomorrow.  IMG_3206.mov
    • yeah I was shocked when I checked my spare OEM on and as below that's how they come from Nissan. (side interesting note new NEO gearbox and replacement park lack the brass bush on the tips and its just all alloy) unsure about damage to the box currently back at 1110 to be pulled down/inspected and selector fork replaced as he built it previously and given the never before seen failure on his billet forks he is replacing it under warranty. He said he has used always OEM the keyway tab without issue for years so it could be an unlucky coincidence. I did talk to him about the sharp corners and stress concentration too. Re: hard shifts i got 7+ years out of the OEM one and the fork itself failed not the keyway. so could be bad luck as I said or an age thing + heat cycles in box and during fabrication of billet?
