Regular Vs. Type M

What are the differences engine and external wise of the normal models versus the Type M models. 

I have Nissan FAST now and I have recently learnt I have a Type M, should I be proud? 

Also, my date states "9503" on the readout. Does that mean I have a series 2 car? 1995? I don't understand that readout.
