lol u remind me of my mate with his mazda mps - he dumps the clutch all the time & i ask him why?

to be honest ive never seen anyone do that in gtr whilst rolling, on launch im all for it though :)

sounds tough :)

Thats me showing my annoyance from going over the ripple strip...releaves the frustration ;)

Looks like a weapon!!!!

A fair bit of choo choo chooing going on there.... Have you tried the "twin turbo pipe mod"?

great suggestion paul!

your new setup wont have this problem with the hard pipe kit anyway

whats going on with this thread - the last few posts have vanished?

yesterday i added a link to thw twin turbo mod & its gone - wtf?

here it is: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Tw...um-t332449.html

I had the same happen to me yesterday...had to re-post

I feel the twin turbo pipe mod may cause some restriction on the front turbo. I would rather go with a HKS or chinese hard pipe kit that has a smooth transition. I am looking at installing 6boost manifolds so will need a custom setup to suit anyway as the rear turbo outlet fouls on Kyle's manifold.

how much can u get the chinese hard pipe kit for?

ive heard the jap pipe kits are close to 2k ;)

beware of aftermarket manifolds & subsequent cracking

i know that mark berry did a back2back test with his hi octane r32gtr which was making over 400rwkw & in fact he lost mid range power with tomei extremes manifolds (top end was was within 1kw of the factory port matched manfolds)

The Chintech kit is around $320 bucks. I have fitted one. It wasn't perfect and the Ypipe is really thin but the car did make more power everywhere.

Yeah, I'm not real impressed with the stainless mani's I also feel I have lost some mid range. Did Mark's test reviel that the STD cast manifolds gave him more mid range over the Tomei's? I feel the 6 Boost would be better again than OEM....just a wee pain to fit up.

Matt.

Wasn't it you that was selling that duel entry ARC cooler a few months ago? I know it was 70 mm but that is/was a awsome kit. You didnt want to run it on this weapon?

Where's that kit bought from?

Yeah that was me. I have the M105 ARC cooler now. Love ARC. Will go back to the twin turbo pipe replacement when I change the Manifolds. I was unsure if the M75(70mm) was going to cool and flow what I needed so upgraded.

yeah the comparison was between the tomei's vs standard (not sure about 6boost)

i dont understand - are u going back to the factory twin turbo pipe?

I have the factory pipe now. We made 824hp with a similar setup and the factory pipe so it is definately not a restriction. Will look at an aftermarket Y pipe in the future.

are u looking at running the baffle mod in the factory pipe as well?

u getting any shuffle/surge on light throttle under low revs?

best way test it, 50kmh in 4th then flatten the throttle

    • You’ll want to have the block drilled and tapped to suit 1/2in head studs and the head for the same. How much power do you intend to make?
    • Sorry for resurrecting an oldish thread Not much has happened in the past year since the last update. The car did another 1000 miles or so and failed the MOT for the first time in October (failed on tyres which had been advised for a couple of years) In October the car got put up for sale and was removed in November due to no interest, being so close to christmas it was to be expected. The roads were dry in February so I decided to tax it early and get the new tyres fitted.   Fast forward to April, I got someone in to give the car a good clean after sitting for the winter.                                 The car got re-advertised and today (Saturday 3rd May) the car sold. The new owner is planning a GTR conversion at some point and a respray in the same pearl white. It's bitter sweet, it's a shame to have the car sit there for half the year and then only do 1000 miles. The kids are growing too quick and space in the back is getting limited. It's been a great 6.5 years of ownership
    • And if you want more power, more reliably, and cheaper, go get the Aussie RB... The 4L Barra and put that in instead.
    • No cats will keep discolouring the rear bar. Sends white paint a weird yellow stain. Cut and polish normally gets it out, but you'll be doing that every fortnight I found.
    • Both heads will be equally reliable or unreliable depending on what you do to them.  Stock the RB26 head will flow more. You have access to the stock intake ITB manifold on the RB26 cheaply which flows really well(1000hp+).   Arguably more aftermarket support for RB26, though in Aus we love our RB30 SOHC heads too.    The only downsides to the RB26 head is if you have a VL commodore and want to keep the SOHC look.  Where you may have an issue is drilling out the rb30 block for the bigger head studs but if you are building a big power motor you'd probably put bigger studs on the SOHC head too.  This is just about finding a good machine shop, sometimes easier said than done.  RB30 head worked can make big power just like a Rb26 head, so really it actually more comes down to what your preference is for your car.  People now even making billet versions of both.
