not sure how/why you want to be involved Josh, but to be honest I've never met Paul in all the years I've been going to SAU NSW events, and no, I'm not always sure who is parked next to my car if that's the implication.

Seems like this thread is full of people who have broken the rules and been warned complaining about the people who police the rules.

Well, when you sport a sig like yours, 80% seems a little low.... :D

sounds like someone just got rick rolled..

but come on.. 1 of my warnings is from over 2 years ago and the other isnt far off 2 years ago.. would have thought there'd be some sort of system that rewards users for obeying the rules that removes the warnings providing they havent had any others after 6 or 9 months or something..

I’m in involved in this thread as, like most I’m sick of the over zealous moderating from some moderators who continually single out some forum users, who abuse their powers and who break the rules. One set of rules for everyone. Not two or three.

Sure I’ve been warned and pulled into line over the years, one warn was removed and the other (20%) sewid promised to remove it, which I have attached the PM’s as it hasn't been removed yet and I would like it looked into, as to why I still have it.

As I said, I have no issue with you, or foresee any. But, my post was a simple opinion I had formed just after reading Paul’s post, two sides to every story I guess.

Calling a mod a fan boi, is not disrespectful. You call your self a FAN BOY in your user text,

Further action will be taking with this warn in due time.

PM’d for obvious reasons, as this is no relevance to that thread

Hello,

I'm happy to see you PM me instead of continuing to degrade the thread. In regards to my user text that was set by Blitz and I have not changed it yet. It doesn't matter because it IS disrespectful to call a forum moderator a fan boi for just doing his job.

The only action I initially took was to remove your post - I saw it as a troll post and I do not need the thread degenerating into an argument as lots of threads do. You chose to back that up with an openly disrespectful post against the forums, the forum moderators and this section. You received a warning for the latter.

It is your choices that led you to receive a warning but I'm happy to remove it if you just simply stop posting in that thread.

Regards,

Kris

Hi Kris,

Thank you for replying. If you could remove the warning it would be much appreciated. I am happy to take no further part in that thread/meet all guidelines of SAU.

Regards

Josh

Thanks for understanding. You gotta realise that being a moderator takes tonnes of time out of the day sometimes so it's why I probably get a bit trigger happy when I see a post I feel is off topic sometimes.

I will remove the warning ASAP.

Kris

Hey Paul, I can help. I only have 2 problems with you

1. You break forum rules

2. You repeat 1.

Time and time again over years. And you've been warned numerous times and banned as well.

incorrect..ive only ever recieved 3 warnings...and ive never been banned. Stacey and i requested our old profiles (TWO.06L and DIRTgarage) and be deleted because of you and your additude towards us. We were sick to death of you having a go at us and our car all the time. She no longer comes on here because of you Duncan and is sick of the Skyline scene alltogether. This is a girl who was a National Champion racedriver and still holder of two national records driving a Skyline.

Can you not at least be man enough to acknowledge ive been very proactive in trying to smooth the relationship with you. Me parking my car next to yours at the show and shine was a great example...you know damn well it was our car as you watched us park it...then after we left it, you moved away from us and set-up elsewhere. I thought that was fairly juvenile behaviour. Also posting some useful info recently in your build threads and others, getting you onto Terry to do your diff/gearbox work etc etc. But you seem hell bent on cracking me when you get the slightest chance. Whats your beef? you have never met me...come and say g'day, im not going to eat you, you may be surprised as a few people on here say im a lot different to what they thought id be like in person. The printed word is probably not good for me because im from the old school, straight to the point, speak my mind and take no sh1t. Where im from men either dug coal, played rugby, fought in the ring or fought for their country. Ive bent over backwards on here to assist people ive never met and provided countless hours of free advice from lots of $$ spent from research and development, does that count for nothing?. I know you are extremely jealous of your success and the cars exposure in the media, people close to you have informed me of this...mate its not my fault the print media in this country doesn't give much credit for the roundy roundy brigade. Hey what you guys do deserves a lot of credit and i also think that circuit/tarmac rally cars are starting to get more recognised as the Berry/Neuman car is a great example. Hope we can sort this out and put this issue between us to rest.

I never knew Prank was so "open speech" that rocks / makes me fuzzy.

Baby jesus might know how i haven't received a warning yet (I sure don't) so i cant be labeled a whiner :D

But its a tad alarming, the claims being thrown around here, makes me thinking about the partial "mod rotation" comment. SAU must be about 6yrs old, ppl change, as do forums; maybe new thoughts and ideas and worth the trade off in experience. As dangerous to my account names health as it could be, I think a mods power is similar to ANY other position of power within society. If one is proven without a doubt, to be abusing it, or letting emotion rule to a detriment of SAU... his role should be seriousaly looked at.

Prank appeared honest above, I think more users need to sincerely take note.

Far out, sounds like it's time for a serious consideration on Christian's behalf to look into doing a complete moderation team rotation.

Yeah, I think that might need to be done. Its been a while since we did a moderator system overhaul.

I never knew Prank was so "open speech" that rocks / makes me fuzzy.

Thanks! :(:D

God knows I'm trying to do the best I can. And yeah, I am an honest guy, life's too short to spin bullshit.

sounds like someone just got rick rolled..

Why oh Why would you do that?! :):D

Thats a fair enough call and something that I have been thinking about for a while. I will talk to the other mods / admins and come up with a good period after which we can delete warnings

Christian

Cheers Christian, im a little more confident now that i can continue to positively contribute to your forum.

Ive only really had an issue with one person, as i have a great association with nearly all of the moderating team on here and and at least 1/2 of them personally outside of this forum.

I'd like that, I have a warning against me - 1 in 5 years of being on SAU - and I think there should be some discretion based on your previous track record. I expressed an opinion [well founded and with evidence if anyone wants it] that proabably did not meet the forum rules, and deserved my warning [but it was worth it this time]. But I don't see the justification for being damned for all time, you only get twenty years for murder!!! So any warning retraction over a set time would be appreciated.

Actually I probably got my warning in the same thread as Dirtgarage - a thread where some had very strong motives and advice.

Well I can speak for the majority on the reduction of warnings... (as we've spoken about it a number of times now in the Admin area)

As the group sees it currently, they will forever stay once given.

They offer tracking reasons for us as Admin/Mods, and also people often think they can lay low for 6-12months and then come out on the fire again and we've seen that many times over... which if warnings 'expired', would be impossible to record and track for us and give people unlimited lives if you will.

I mean 5 warnings/before ban is pretty lenient over someone's life, people have got to be accountable for their own actions at some point

You can see your own warning, so can Admin/Mods and that's it.

It doesn't affect your use of the forum, your posts/threads or anything else for that matter. Its there simply to serve as a record for us to keep the forum in reasonable order.

The rules here are not very strict in reality overall. They should be reasonably easy to abide by. Fair enough you might slip once or twice in the moment... but 5 times? Come on... Its showing your really not interested in being social around the place for whatever reason.

Spamming, Flamming, Trolling, Porn, Anything we deem necessary for a warning.

Right about here

<-----

or in your profile page.

<<< Hey! I wondered about why I was wearing this warning rating 'like a yoke around my neck' for all to see. I check it now and again to see if the BLUE SQUARES are getting any DARKER!

Anyone want to swap their warning rating with mine?... Well you can't! I'm incorruptible!

Yes I've read the SAU guidelines: seem fine with me.

Funny though. Whatever rules a system makes up; and whatever moderating is put in place to police them, there are people out there who always...

i) look for loopholes

ii) push the envelope

iii) run their own agenda/ego

Ever notice that ???

So instead of abiding by the NEGATIVES and staying outside them...

It's EASIER to chase the POSITIVES and...

i) be constructive

ii) be helpful

iii) yeh have a joke but remember, big people joke about themselves (ie. self deprecating) and not at the expense of others. 'Micky' has no place here.

iv) put yourself in the predicament that others are in

v) be a guide to noobs

vi) be respectful to the female gender

vii) give thanks when it's due (and in advance as some decent guys do)

viii) be considerate to race (ie did you notice the -ve reference to China in the above post, yet we drive a Japanese car?)

ix) do you think it's that hard to shut your mouth (if what's on your mind is illegal or not constructive)

x) do unto others as you would have them do unto you (written by God - not Godzilla)

Cheers,

T

I think this bears emphasizing. It's only the mods/admins and you that can see the warnings. They're there so if we spot you doing the wrong thing we can check if you have form or if it's out of the blue. Deleted warnings mean no record of form.

A warning isn't actually as big a deal as you might think. They are just what they say they are - warnings. They are not a punishment. Punishments are setting you to moderator preview, temp bannings, temp disabling of posting ability and total bannings.

well if thats true, it makes mine pretty useless seeing as there was no reason given for the warning. i know the reason (the mod who gave it has probably forgotten), and while i believe it didnt deserve a warning, and was just a bit of fun ( that phrase is gonna bite me on the ass) im not too fussed and i can see that others may not appreciate it. the warning can stay there for all i care. its just that when a mod looks at it in the future, they wont be able to tell if i was abusing someone, posting content against the rules, cheating in the classifieds etc, none of which are the case. now how is that fair to me?

my point is, i see the need for the warning system, but i'd like a reason atleast if removal is not warranted

I understand why you would raise the warn level from 10% to 20% but I don't understand why it applies to everyone that had a warning previous.

We aren't robots without emotion. sometimes conversations are going to get heated and shit might fly...

yes I've been warned previously. a year ago was my last warn, but I'm now on 100% so Prank are you trying to get rid of those that have been warned before? Because the way I see it, is if some poor sucker was on 60% he is now banned from the site. Poor bloke has to go and re-register an email and user ID and start all over again...

Cool, then we need those mods to be reported so they can be pulled aside. I dont want anybody thinking that because they're a mod they'll be treated differently.

And some mods think they are so much better than others and fail to follow forum rules, but when pointed this out a warning is recieved as "being moderator".. and I was just told that they cannot be removed, yet someone in this thread had one removed. Whats with that?

This is a great forum for resources especially to females that want to learn more, and its also a great network for friends etc, but when mates moderate thier own states forum, then thats when its wrong.

And may I also suggest that no active member, be it president or vice or events coordinator or what ever committee member they are in the off the forums clubs of SAU become moderators as pillow talk is a major issue. Some things that are said to a mod, or mentioned in PMs to a mod are spoken about on cruises.. this is a breach of privacy and this is when some mods should not be mods.

People that were 60% before, are not automatically banned. As far as i know the warning system doesnt work like that.

Its upto the Mod/Admin to actually go in and ban the user once they reach 100%, or sooner if disgression dictates.

I could be wrong but im 99% certain there were some people on 80% before the increase and they are still around :(

I think its very fair to update all warnings too, why should someone get 10% and others get 20% for the same thing?

One person be allowed 4 more warnings, and future people 2?

Its a blanket update to all warnings based on the reasons provided 4 pages ago.

Also FYI - I've been an Admin here for a number of years, mod before that.

I've also been on the SAU-Vic committee since its inception (exception of 10 months last year), and now i am President.

Every single Committee Member (in Vic at least) is clearly aware of the distinction.

I for one have never been unable to see the clear line between the two, and we do (as an admin group) ensure this is not occuring.

Half of NSW Committee are Admins & Mods on this forum for a start just as an example

So the comment about Club & Forum, doesnt sit that well from my view unless im not seeing something clearly enough here?

And if you have issues - you must raise the issue at the time with Admins. I find it interesting there are so many people coming out of the closet now the warnings were upped etc saying they were unjust, not noted etc etc... when nothing was ever said initially or raised so how can we get feedback on the Admin/Mod team if things like this are not being raised?

Its a two way street, no feedback recieved = no idea where we stand.

Ok so when the govt decides to increase the speeding fines and demirit points for speeding do they up everyones demirit points who have had a speeding fine in the past? No they don't.

And to your last paragraph... Yes I did take it up with Prank himself and he did nothing. So what is one to do?

What does the Gov't have to do with SAU?

SAU runs as we see fit and as fair as we can.

We see fit to treat ALL people as equally as we can, something the Gov't cannot ever be expected to do :ermm:

Its to do with your profile.

Nothing related to warnings. Just go into my controls, its under profile information or one of those menu's.

you just disable it or put something else there off the top of my head

    • I believe mine is helical and not clutch type. During drifting one wheel was spining as if it was open diff so bought kazz 1.5 way and has sat on my shelf for the past 5 years as I want to learn shiming process and do it myself   in meantime thought I change the diff oil hence post here. So any 75-90?   i am pretty sure r34 are helical not clutch lsd as standard . That is gtt ones
    • Throw between gears are so much that is getting annoying. I have pro short shifter on my mx5 and e36 and love it . Skyline is getting unbearable    would syncro issues and short shifter is no no? Anyone mind explaining a little on why before i buy cube
    • No. Well, some people "seem to use redline shockproof in the diff". Most do not. I would only contemplate it if you have badly worn CW&P gears. And no. No-one in their right mind has ever put ATF into a diff. Any normal diff/gear oil of the right viscosity will do. Whatever takes your fancy. Castrol, Nulon, Penrite, Redline MT range. Whatever. It's just gears. 75W-90 or 80W-90 is typical. I think that GL-5 is hard to avoid these days, although I think that a GL-4 is probably preferred, given the vintage of the equipment. At least Redline offer a number of GL-4 oils. If you have a clutch type LSD instead of the VLSD, then of course you need a proper LSD oil. Anything from any of the same names above. If you have a helical LSD, then it does not require LSD oil, and the recco is the same as for the VLSD. You don't want the LSD friction modifiers in the oil for a non-clutch type LSD if you can avoid it.
    • You may want to list it up for a little higher - This price is much lower than you may realize. Here you're pretty much selling to people who most likely already have these things on their own rigs. S chassis people eat this stuff up like you'd not believe.
    • I had my car for over 10 years and done around few thousand miles but never changed the oil. thinking of changing it.   what brand and viscocity would you put in ? people seem to use redline shockproof in the diff   on  contraty seen others using atf dexron 2 or 3 so wanted to check. is it 1 liter?
