lol. nice one. yeah pappa is going to roll past my office in his pope mobile later on this arvo. he comes right past. maybe I can hurl some abuse at him from the comfort of my desk?

You know, it's funny you say 'people are going to see him' around my work and my house I'm finding pilgrims are coming out for the sake of it, not going to see the pope but busy singing Hare Krishna songs, looking like hippy derro's and getting in your face on the street just to p!ss you off and use the pope and World Youth Day as a justification of it!.... There's my rant.... lol :P

yeah these pilgrims are annoying.,.... in your face and just not shutting up, i don't mind that they are happy, but they are also very loud mouthed and think they are better than the people who live in sydney. I was on the train and this yank just kept yapping on how cheap vietnam is.... saying his camera is worth $600 in the states and he got it for $30 in vietnam,,,, all i said to him was "all you went to vietnam for was the young boys, sit down and shut up when your on public transport and stop boasting because someone will rob you blind if your saying the camera is worth $600" then the idiot cried.... i walked away.... i didnt say anything bad did i? i just said the truth as i saw it lol and probably even saved his life from getting rolled in glebe for his awesome camera.

Other than that there are some nicer pilgrims who are genuwine pilgrims and not just travelling to boast to their friends at church about how dedicated they are to the pope. Hell if i was rich i'd probably use the pope as an excuse to be a wanker infront of my peers aswell lol.

I sore the Pope, very exciting, had a half hour off work just to watch him pass from half a km away lol. The pilgrims arent that bad, alot of them are nice and polite, they are just here celebrating something that they believe in. Seriously who cares? they are bringing alot of money into the country and alot of attention so it is good for us.

Get over their singing and loudness, does it bother you that much? havent had any of them "get" in my face about anything so perhaps you are just unlucky?

that didn't really happen, did it?

no they aren't. they are draining it. the pilgrims are all using either free accomodation in peoples houses, or paying a nominal rate to stay in a catholic school hall. packages start at $50 a WEEK! hardly big money. the money for that goes to the catholic church. they only thing they spend money on is WYD merchandise (money to church), starbucks, and macdonalds. and on the other side our state government is spending 10s of millions on this thing. if we didn't have a god botherer as a premier this would never have happend. as it is no one is spending money in hotels, or bars, or brothels, or drug dealers unlike when the olympics was on and they all did a roaring trade.

if you think that then you are seriously naive. They are buying souverniers, which helps the industry. Yes they get things cheaper, and perhaps the state shouldnt be paying for so much of the event, but then i dont care if we didnt have the Olympics her because it didnt interest me. What about the Commonwealth Games, what did that do?

If money is all you care about then i feel for you. The fact is they do bring money into the country, 50x50000 = 2500000, thats not big money?

Instead of only thinking about Australia and yourself, why not think about the rest of the world? we are fortunate enough to live a good life in a good country, what about all the people in Africa which the church helps?

I am by no means a religious fanatically and to tell the truth WYD doesnt interest me really, but then neither does State of Origin or the Olympics or the Commonwealth Games, nor do i care if people from overseas come and tour the country. But these events are paid for by the government. at the end of the day, money is only money, is it really important?

woah... mate you were the one who brought up money. saying how great it is they bring all this money into the country. I simply pointed out that it's not the case. I work in the CBD where most of these pilgrims are in the day time and all the business I have spoken to have experienced a downturn as many workers in the city were encouraged to take leave (yet another cost). you are the one who is naive if you think this event had a positive impact on our economy. and again, you were the one who brought it up mate. and yes, 2.5mil is peanuts. and again, all the money from souveniers, and accomodation, and registration and WYD gear goes to the catholic church. not to the government, or businesses or the comunity as a whole. why don't you think about africa and all those people your church helps and shell out $100+mil over there instead of on a little party over here...

    • Early last week, I became concerned that the car was feeling....slow. Most of my driving is commuting to/from work and there are few opportunities to get up it and convincingly make boost/power. It drives in vacuum almost all the time. But when you do occasionally get an opportunity, and.... it takes a little longer to start making power, and then there's not as much as you'd expect, and then you run out of road anyway and have to bottle out - it can be hard to be convinced that there's something wrong. But by the end of the week I was pretty convinced. Made an effort to get a decent test run. Took bloody forever to come up on boost and when it did it would only make about 50 kPa of pressure. There was no black smoke, no noise of a boost or exhaust leak, no evidence anywhere of an intercooler hose clamp being sloppy enough to let air escape. So.... not that sort of problem. Brainstorming led to thinking that the boost controller's solenoid might have failed in some way. No active boost control would just give wastegate pressure, which I was more or less getting, and the laggy behaviour could just be "normal" shitty boost response from an uncontrolled highflow. But a little extra 3rd party brainstorming led to the thought that the actuator circlip might have jumped off leaving me with a bluetooth wastegate. So, on Friday, off comes the stock heatshield (which is an annoying enough job on its own) to reveal - yup. WG is wide open. And.... it won't come back. It is jammed in the dump. Put the rod back on with a new circlip and tried driving it to get it hot in the hope that the capture was from thermal effects having been blown into the dump when hot and since cooled. Nope. Won't move, even with screwdriver mediated force when hot. Ran out of time to play. Came back to it yesterday. Unbolted the dump. Was lying under it with the dump jammed up against my guts undoing the bottom 2 bolts. Got them most of the way out and gave the dump a serious heave. It didn't noticeably move, but there was a satisfying "plink" noise from up to. Shuffle out and sure enough, gate is now closed. Nevermind that there was still the better part of an hour after that required to put it all back together. f**ken cars.
    • For your application, where you'll be at that 1/2" size or perhaps larger, yeah, excellent. Although not if you need a tight bending radius anywhere, because the corrugated stuff is not anywhere near as flexible as rubber/teflon cored stuff. But for turbo oil lines? No. Too big. They just don't do the corro stuff down at the ~1/4" ID size that you'd want, and if they did the OD of it would probably be a bit too fat for fitting it into the tight spaces available. I use hoses like that all the time for fuel gases (LPG, NG) and liquid fuels (HFO, diesels, waste oils). When we did the London Olympic cauldron, with the 204 individual burners on it, we had miles of the stuff (although a lot of that was teflon core). A bunch of that crap is still cluttering up the workshop, more than 12 years later!
    • Would something like this be an option  https://processhose.com/products/configurable-metal-hoses/1-2-in-t316-stainless-steel-annular-corrugated-configurable-flexible-metal-hose-assembly-with-ends-t304-single-braid-masterflex-af5550.html I'm looking at this for replacing the OEM EGR when installing a aftermarket intake plenum
    • The once piece tail shafts with cv type joints on either end are the ones that end up vibrating and the vibration is caused by the cv joint binding as it turns, I’ve also seen them explode from the binding
