Hi All,

I just wanted to let everyone know of my recent positive experience buying an import from a Sydney motor dealer.

It's always a bit of a shark field when buying a used performance car (like a mine field, 'cept with sharks) :P

Anyway, I live in QLD but found a place in Sydney called Nagoya Motors that was advertising around the net. It's owned by a russian family (odd eh) and I dealt with a guy there called Alex. Nagoya imports a variety of jap cars - all models of Skylines, stageas, RX7s, Delicas, Lancers etc, and does the compliance work for a lot of them (including the V35 Skylines).

I bought a V35 (significantly cheaper than they are going for in QLD and with some sick Works rims) that was freshly imported a few months before. Mah V35

After driving it back to QLD and going for roadworthy, they found that one of the rear tyres had a 5mm bald strip around the inside that wouldn't pass RWC. And one front tyre was pretty shagged on the inside too. Obviously bad alignment/camber for some time coz there was plenty on the outside of all tyres.

I called Alex and asked if he would like to contribute some money towards a new set of tyres considering it was going to cost me a lot more than expected to reregister the car in QLD. (Bear in mind that the deal was done 2 weeks prior, and my money was long ago in his account.)

Not only did he immediately transfer $400 to my account, but he also sent me a $500 3yr warranty (one of those 3rd party national warranty things) in the mail so I could try to get a intermittant power window motor fixed with it. I KNEW about the window before I bought the car and wasn't worried about it.

So basically a dealer that I have never dealt with before, who has no reason to think I would buy from him again (given that he is interstate) has gone well and truly beyond what was legally required, with zero hassling from me, in order to make me an extra happy customer, and cut his margin by a further $600 or more in the process.

In my experience that sort of ethical behaviour isn't very common in business at all, and virually unheard of in motor dealers.

So if you are looking to buy an import in the near future, I highly recommend Nagoya Motors - go have a chat to Alex. If he doesn't have what you want in stock he can also order it to your spec.

I'm happy for anyone to contact me to verify this story, given that I haven't been on the board long.

Scott.

Yeh Scott,

It's a very comforting feeling to be able to develop trust between buyer & seller eh?

Thanks for your story... Perhaps others will have good words to say about Nagoya P/L and Alex in particular.

Dealers should realise that being able to keep you happy, means that they'll keep your relatives/future children happy too.

This way, they can establish a long-term relationship > loyalty...

rather than silly salesmen trying to just make a sale to keep up monthly figures!

By the way; if you give him a tip, pay him in AU$ eh... NOT ROUBLES!

Cheers, Terry
