Hi all....

I'm just wondering if theres anyone out there thats come across the same problem as i have with cam belt tensioner bearings....

They started getting noisey so i decided it was time to replace them. The first option was the local part shops etc sprint auto's, rocca's.... none of these stock them..

So the next option was tuners such as JMS, jaustech etc.... Where you can only get 2nd hand ones at a pretty rough price... and then your not gauranteed totally quiet ones..

So off to nissan, where i was quoted somthing ridiculous for the 2 bearings that are needed... It was approximately $400 for the 2... I don't know about anyone else but i can't bring myself to pay that much for what are just bearings....

Has any1 come across a cheaper solution? (preferably new!!) I've tried CBC, and another bearing place in Adeliade but they don't have anything the same.

If anyone has another solution i'd love to hear it!!

Thanks

Trav

Well the tensioner on my stock motor is original (RB25DET), and its making no noise. (1994, R33) Its coming up to the 10 year mark!.

Hmmmm, not too sure. I would say that its one of those items that once its worn, piff it and graba new one. You more than likely can repack it with grease, but its a fair job to get it off and not somthing i could be botherd doing more than once.

MATE!!!

i had the same problem... STOP DRIVING IT

i kept driving it for a little bit and they let go, Cam belt came off and then the pistons smashed ALL the valves and i had to get a new head basically, lucky there was no no piston damage.

Spend the $400 and get brand new ones.

Better than $1500 to replace the top half of the motor because your ones died or the second hand ones were stuffed....

unless you can do it yourself, then only about $400 for a new head. But you really dont wanna go there.

Hey Jnr32 that one for $90 is about right and thats the more complex of the 2 bearings.... the other one is close to the 300 mark and should be the cheaper of the two....

Well i replaced my bearings when i got my car with some second hand ones.... but it didn't take long till they were just as noisey.. I've got a spare RB (32) so i'll just replace it with those ones..

Its a wonder why someone hasn't reproduced these bearings and started selling them for even a third of the price... like normal bearings for other cars!!!
