I would mate. If ya have done everything else that there is to do, then fire away. Dont worry about everyone else who says not to, try it yourself. LOL - then we'll all be asking u the questions about it all!

I keep coming back to this mod as well. Its pretty big money, but woudl be money well spent if it fattens up the mid range. Though by the times its installed and car tuned its a $2500 exercise so would need to be pretty sure it works....anyone willing to take the plunge on an RB20?

LOL, people referring to results on RB25s doesnt do anything for my confidence :D

I'm keen to do one... and if money and time permits i'll try and do a before and after dyno run. At least you'd think there'd be some gains in response due to removing a metre or so of intake piping? :D

I don't see how a forward facing plenum can starve cylinders 5 & 6 of air. It might starve cyl.1 and maybe cyl.2 but cyl. 5 & 6 would get more air if anything, causing them to run slightly leaner and I believe that is the issue some people have with forward facing plenums, leaner rear cylinders.

spot on ash... you get used to power upgrades so quickly!

so your agreeing with him.. than why the f**k do we bother modifying cars.. saying something like that is absolutely stupid. if everyone took that attitude we'd all be driving dead stock slow shitbox's. when someones chasing hp offer them advice. instead of telling them mods are useless cause you'll be use to them with in a week of them being installed..

Hi mate,

did u have an after market ecu or just the remapped stock ecu?

anyone know if we need any computer upgrade to work with this front facing plenum?

cheers

no u dont need a aftermarket ecu or remap to run the plenum. i installed my one and working fine for a month b4 i went and got a remap+tune. just the idle was abit off thats all. also keep in mine that the piping goes where the battery is so u will have to put the battery in the boot. about 6hrs of work if u dont have ur misses in ur ear all day :D

I feel you man!

i was looking at the greddy plenums but as mentioned the 5th and 6th cylinder dont get enough air so i opted to pay the extra 200 bucks for the plazmaman plenum, she works well and i think it helped reduce lag from my to4e but that might just be me.

I got one on the 25, even if it doesnt give you any performance gains, the fact it makes your engine bay go from looking like ass to looking sexy as hell is worth the money. I cannot stand the standard RB20 and RB25 plenums, look like absolute sh*t!. Also makes working on your car so much easier because you dont have a million things in the way. If you can afford one and want one, get one.

cheers

Well history repeats. I am back here again and again thinking about throwing one of these onto my car. So as a before and after mod you are comfortable that there was a gain from the manifold, and not from the tuning after the manifold went on...ie Dr Drift had tuned the thing optimally before the manifold went on??? Going from the TD06-20G to a TD06-25 i am going ot need to do some work to get the old girl responsive.

So torn between a Plazmaman setup or an EFI Hardware multi throttle setup

what power you making now? as too before?

ive got one on mine but never checked for gains before and after

i just went the whole hog when i blew the sh?t out of my engine 2 years back

never really noticed results as the car was off the road for 18 months

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
