Hey all,

My little bro is looking at buying a car. He loves my GTR but no suprise cant afford one. He has found instead a 4wd TX3 Turbo.

Has anyone had one of these before?

The car itself is relativly cheap, but its standered. Same old turbo, engine, gearbox etc etc.

Anyone had any experiance with these?

Hes only young so he cant reali afford to be paying mega bucks to fix things if/when they go wrong.

cheers

www.fordlaser.com all the info you need and they have pretty good cruise's with some unreal looking lasers

I hade 3 lasers back in the day KB,KE and KF very quick lil cars when done right and more reliable then a skyline. I spent 1year when i was 15 rebuilding a old ke(stock rebuilt motor) and custom paintjob :D Iv been looking at getting a tx3 aswell but its hard to find a good one for a good price.

Also they have bodykits for all laser models :D

hey mate.... what models would be one to look at? (i dunno what this one is KE etc but its the one with the twin round head lights) And do they all come with the same turbo engine? or is it like the silvia having half a dozen different engines in them?

also ive seen that green TX3 at some cars shows.. with his new carbon front gaurds

I have a 1991 KF Laser Ghia, not the TX3 version, but exactly the same except mine doesnt have turbo, and has 4 doors.

They are great cars, go really well, and not too expensive to fix either. That is unless you are like me and want 17" rims, lowered suspension and a nice sound system :( haha.

Nah but just IMO, i'd rather go a KF than a KE, but thats just me. :(

And fordlaser.com is a great forum for all your Laser needs :)

yer it doesnt feel bad to drive.. nippy, handels excellent. he just cant afford it to be a money pit if things go wrong. but from what people have said they arent that expensive to fix.

and HEAPS of kits for them, cos standered its not much to look at lol

great little cars i reckon, had a friend who put it through hell and it never died!

but i still remember the good old days of the older boys cruising with tx3's, mx6 turbos and cordias with chopped springs!

The springs in my Laser were chopped when i bought it :(

So I did the right thing and bought proper lowered ones. Pretty good and only about half an inch higher than having chopped springs!

Yep;

The running gear in them is the same at the Famillia (SP?). The engine form what I have heard are very strong, like 250atwKW on standard internals strong, which isn't bad for such a small engine.

That may be so (I have seen some pretty powerful Famillia's - considering the engine size), but don't expect the gearbox to last very long at those power levels!

Being a Mazda engine, even in the late 80's they were still using Vane AFM's. An aftermarket tuned computer with a slightly larger turbo & decent breathing mods would be a nice little setup.
