Hi,

I decided to pull my pod off and clean it a little then thought i should take my AFM and clean that a little too. I unplugged the cable on the side to remove the meter and put it all back together, then my car wouldnt start! It ignites and for a about a second it runs then just dies. My sensor sw/check on the power fc says the AFM has no voltage, sometimes it increases by .01 v but nothing more.

So I pulled it apart checked it all and put it back together, no difference.

Again, put the plug upside down and no difference.

I really hope i haven't fried my AFM!

Woops double post sorry!

Seeing as the signal loss from the AFM occurred when you ... removed the plug, I'd assume the loom is damaged around the plug area. Search for pin designations, and test for good ground, power etc.

Get someone to wiggle the plug while you check the hand controller, go from there.

What did you clean the AFM hot wire with?

EDIT: F5 before clicking submit, when will i learn.

I didn't actually clean the entire AFM, I brushed the intake side off. The plug is a weird looking one, it sorta sits and you screw it in and there are 3 pins the come from the cable to the AFM.

Ok played around with a friend and determined that the ecu is still receiving voltage from touching it with fingers (human electricity????).

Fiddled some more and fitted the plug in the AFM and received some voltage! Only .25 volts though and this wasn't enough to get the engine running.

I reckon the pins on the plug have bent or the AFM receiver isn't conducting well.
