Hmm, hard call that eh?

i) a GTR (R32) that won Bathurst in '91 & even with a weight penalty in '92

ii) a GTR (R33) that lapped Nurburgring in less than 8min (one of the 1st if not the...)

iii) a GTT (R34) which has won the NZ Targa in '06 & '07 against Porsches, EVOs, STis, GTRs etc

Realistically, it depends too on what you intend to do withe the car,

a) road car

b) circuit car

c) drag

Assuming with your budget, you'll use it as a daily. So I can only help by voting for ii) or iii)

All the best with your trouble-free purchase & enjoy!

Hey!

You're very wise to make up a list of check-points!

It's hard not to get excited as you inspect a potential 'good buy'. So, at inspection, hand over your check-point list to your mechanic friend; as you inspect for rust (on undercarriage/under boot carpet/seat rails/engine bay), accident damage (& whether or not it's been fixed properly), uneven tyre wear, check if the owner is a liar by asking him/her if they race the thing (as you check if the tyres are feathered/rippled), sludge under and around the oil filler cap, logs/receipts, wear on carpet and seat bolsters (that should correspond to the odometer), oil seepage (and from where), quality and smell of oil on the dipstick, cracking on driveshaft boots, missing or damaged items that are on the specs, windscreen cracks/chips, sun damage to paint/top of steering wheel/rear seat ridge/parcel shelf.

And this is all before you turn the key on a cold engine. Now you can pick up the 100s of messages that come thru your seat and steering wheel!

Cheers, T
