Hey guys the names Ross new to the forums and nissan for that matter i am 18, and have gone through a few cars but very happy with what i have now :) (1998 R33 GTS-T - MP). Sorry if i didnt locate an older thread as i tried searching the topic although i dont think the issues are similar to mine.

Here goes, First off i have noticed that the rubber seel i have at the bottom of the windscreen is loose due to wear and tear and water has more than likely gotten into the gap, does anyone know if that matters? and also where i can get a new seal to replace the old worn one??

Second problem is just recently i have been noticing my fuel gauge is going from full to 3/4 and back quite often along with that when the fuel needle is under empty for a while and i goto refuel i only need 45 litres which leeves 20 which clearly shows my fuel gauge is full of shit :P . Just trying to determine where the problem is, at first i thought it was drinking too much fuel but then i realised it wasent as i had 20 litres left in the tank, my calculations show me that my gts-t (DEAD STOCK with GRANNY DRIVING) gets around 500kms to the tank pretty sure this is normal am i wrong? also can anyone please shed some light on my little situation.

yeah its very common to have problems with the fuel level sender in the tank it is very flimsy. when it doesn't contact the sender properly it will show as empty or lower than it actually is.

any decent workshop will be able to fix it for you (or you might need a new sender if something is broken. You can give it a go yourself but it is a bit tricky to get right. If so, pull out the fuel pump fuse, run the car until it dies due to lack of fuel, take off the fuel cover, remove the inlet and outlet hoses, open the big plastic lid and carefully pull the sender unit out. you will see it has a float on a metal arm which runs along a sender. if this isn't contacting properly you get the wrong level.

your fuel gauge is not full of shit.. well not totally anyway. your tank is 65L, but nissan have just calibrated it so that when your needle is on E, you still have a fair bit of fuel left. I guess this is so you don't drive around with barely any fuel in your tank (dangerous!) ... i had this exact same problem in my dead stock, granny driven r33 gtst. 500kms to a tank is pretty normal with sensible driving.. it's what im getting too :)

Yer similar to what a few people have told me might not go the DIY job as i am a noob lol, get a workshop to have a look at it when i get around to it. I dont think its doing me any damage at this point besides giving me faulse amounts am i wrong about that though?

Yerp well im in the exact situation as u being dead stock and all just getting a bit paranoid as the car is my new pride and joy i guess :)

By the way what area are u from ur car looks very very familiar?

haha Melbourne north eastern suburbs mate... don't blame you for thinking my car looks familiar there's a stack of them around! 3 just in my suburb i believe :)

Black silicon and a caulking gun my friend, Fixes everything. Keep some silicon remover and a rag handy cause it can get messy if your not careful.

Black silicon and a caulking gun my friend, Fixes everything. Keep some silicon remover and a rag handy cause it can get messy if your not careful.

yer thats what i have been told from a few people.

is it doing any damage being as it is though? basically where is the water going?

is it just possible to find a replacement part? instead of going silicone?

should be fine, mine is the same and I haven't had any water issues.

Could try clark rubber or places like that for a replacement or a windscreen fitter for the rubber

ah ok, cool well as long as its not doing any damage thats find i will try find out if theres a part and let u know about it also if ur interested
