Auto Box Gone?

hey guys, im driving a r33 series 2 auto lately as i hardly touch my clubby. last night when i was driving it something seemed wierd. it was revving 4000rpm the whole time when i pulled over stopped the engine and started it again. same thing happened.

since ive owned the car i have never used the 1st, 2nd gear as ive always put into d (drive). however the whole night and today as i took it for another test drive it seems 3rd and 4th gear not kicking in no matter what i do. i rang up a few places and they said as i have assumed the gearbox was gone.

i was thinking about buying an evo7 a month ago but now that this happened i cant really sell it. the question is should i go on changing it to a manual then sell or just stick and replace another box. i will be drving it for a while after this is fixed.

just want to see any opinions on this and how much roughly would a auto trans gearbox etc fitted would cost compared to manual?

may i also add that ive noticed something wrong with the transmission about 2 weeks ago when i stopped at lights when accelerated it revved to 4500rpm but didnt go anywhere then suddenly jerked forward. so im guessing its time for the gearbox to go.

Try resetting the auto ECU it's located behind the drivers side kick panel easiest thing to do is unplug the harness and leave it overnight

Manuals are overrated, get a stall converter and the auto built etc etc

alot cheaper to get the auto replaced/rebuilt. have you also checked the fluid level? this can cause those problems. cost me almost 4 g's a couple of years ago to get a conversion, dunno now!

gearbox was fried... has been replaced and will be rebuilt. getting shift kit bigger transcooler fitted soon. might be for sale soon as i want evo7.
