Used this to try a quick theory i had regarding d-jetro and other rb engines so i fired one up on a R33 first then fiinally fitted it up into this R31.

Std Rb20

Rx7 injectors

Thai plenum

oh man thats made some fkn good power

I remember seeing this car at Status while it was waiting to get a tune done, has to be one of the cleanest R31s around. Looks tuff!

Where abouts is your workshop?

Great looking R31. I so miss my old R31

Where abouts is your workshop? I wouldnt mind giving my car a run on the dyno to see how my setup with std plenum stacks up against the R31s with aftermarket plenum?

Drop past whenever Roy it would be my poleasure to put it on the dyno for you...... 0$

URAS - it's really refreshing to see that you constantly go against the grain to produce brilliant results.

I hope ROY takes you up on the offer (the price is definitely right lol)..

I've always held Roys car in high regard due to his smart mods and this latest from you also seems to be a budget build so to speak (cheap intake, rx7 injectors etc)

it will be interesting to see how Roys setup looks overlaped with this R31.

Do it Roy!!

Dont be silly, you are running a business and i hope to find out if the plenum is worth the headaches or not. So just to get the car back in one piece :D

Let me know a time and a date and I will bring it down :P

I also want to see if this plenum does anything, either way its friggin easy to change plugs and injectors

When you say std RB20, do you mean it was rebuilt to standard specs? or just as is completely standard with just turbo, injectors and plenum? Obviously there are other accessories like catch cans/oil coolers and what-not, but they are more reliability accessories.

std internals probs, unopened bottom end

One question, why does it still have z32 AFM ? Ain't the d-jetro MAP version ?

It is an expensive air filter adaptor :)

hahaha i was still waiting on the Z32 airfliter adapter turning up.

Looks good trent, what do you think is causing the fluctuation of the torque, on the higher boost run, is the boost stable?

Adriano, i bit the bullet when setting up the shop and decided to use the best dyno money can buy, after spending ALOT of time using all brands whilst contract tuning and talking to many operators here and overseas i finally decided on the dynapack, the benefit of spending so much more on a dyno over say a dyno dynamics is quite simple.... accuracy. i am able i to log and show every little bump and variation within a given run something that NO other dyno can do. To the inexperienced the dynapack torque and power curves look kinda ragged but that is just because it does not have the large rollers to dampen the curve.

The torque curve above foir the RB20 is almost perfect, most cars tend to have more variance than this one. (i will post a stock RB25 graph for a comparison as STD R33 tend to have the worst powerr delevery)

The small fluctautions in the dynapack torque curves are masked by other types of dyno's because they use large rollers wihch have a lot of inertia.... (think big flywheel) the intertia contained within those rollers on other dynos flatten out any dicrepencies. If this was to go on a dyno dynamics (or any inertia type dyno) it would look text book perfect but that is useless to anyone who is actaully trying to maximise torque /HP

lastly boost on this car was table flat. (see graph)

    • Oh yeah forgot to also mention need to also unplug the IACV as well. Thanks for the reminder @MBS206 Unplugging the TPS takes it out of closed loop so you're able to screw down the IACV without the ECU trying to add/subtract timing to maintain the idle (not sure PowerFC can even do this, but Nistune and the OEM definitely does)
    • For sale is my 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-T, tuned to 234 kW / 313 hp. I've had the car for a few years as my daily driver. The car is original (as far as Skylines go), with only a few minor upgrades to enhance performance and driving experience, as typical for such a car of its age. Overall, it is in great condition with no body rust, thanks to its earlier import date. It features a top-notch security system (not literally, but it's great!) with remote start and still functional 4-wheel steering via HICAS. It comes with several performance and handling upgrades, including:     Hypergear 450HP Turbocharger running 17 PSI boost, installed mid-2021 by Jaustech     550cc injectors     Nistune ECU     Front-Mount Return-Flow Intercooler     X-Force Stainless Steel Exhaust     Upgraded engine mounts     Bottom end bearings replaced     BC Coilovers     Lenso DR1 rims     Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE003 TL 245/40R18 97W tires, fitted early 2023 The interior is mostly stock, with a few additions:     Viper Satellite Tracking System with remote start     Bluetooth Double-Din Touchscreen Head Unit     Steering wheel cover Cons:     A few paint imperfections here and there     Driver’s seat shows more wear than the others. It's not torn at all, but I've added a seat cover to protect its condition. I also have a CarVX Vehicle History report available for serious buyers, so you don’t need to purchase it yourself. Price: $26,000 ONO.
    • I've had two suzukis in the past have an extremely hard time turning over and not starting after sitting for a few weeks. Ended up the alternator would seize up causing the starter to force. Same issue both times.  Maybe they're sourcing their alternators from the same place...
    • Ah right. Maybe my rb just loves chewing through batteries lol.
    • On the R34 can't you just unplug the IACV? This is the way I've always done it on the R33. Disconnect IACV, get it idling around 650rpm, and then do a power reset on the ECU to get it to relearn idle (factory ECU).   The big reason no one has touched on as to why you'd want to get the base idle right, is that it means the computer needs to make smaller adjustments to get a good idle at 700-750rpm.   Also, cleaning the IACV won't normally make the car suddenly idle lower or higher. The main issue with the IACV gumming up is that the valve sticks. This means the inputs the ECU gives, aren't translating to changes in air flow. This can cause idle choppy ness as the ECU is now needing to give a lot of input to get movement, but then it moves too far, and then has to do the same in reverse, and it can mean the ECU can't catch stalls quickly either.
