Thats a fair enough point, but if anyone said "wog", that would be racist. We'd get other "wog's" on SAU blowing up because we are generalising. See what society has turned into?

See, thats what im trying to say...

Let'

Let's not generalize here and please allow me to make a sweeping generalization...

Road rage in oz is shocking.

Period.

Its very rare almost impossible to actually find road rage here in Tokyo and thats with the most jammed up road arteries in the world.

meh...Jap crap eh...

I love my Jap Subaru crap.

Hope the can of worms i opened isnt that big...

I cant stand the hektikness...

I just dont understand some aussie attitudes...and thats coming from an Aussie.

Maybe its Japan...i dunno.

lol, Rhys i was implying that we not start racial bullshit. Australia is a multicultural society, if you dont like it, move out. My grandparents were born in Croatia, and one in Austria, so wog kind of covers my family as well. I don't take what you said to offense btw.

Ive seen all types with the red mist - suits going at it, workmen and truckies, bogans, hooligans, surfies and the like, even oldies...

All generalizations and i hate categorizing things but the point is the same...

What is it about Japanese cars that many Aussies hate so much?

Funny that. That is the reasons why i did move out... I dont take offense to you saying that to Rhys as its something i actually did but i had my reasons and sadly, that was one of them.

By the way, the other funny thing is both my grandparents are Cro as well...from Cacovek.

You were not around back in the early 90's Bathurst?

Nissan came out on top and every one was booing them on the podium. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_ATwXUtxPA

Its a redneck attitude.. Aussy V8 is best. Jap = cheap crap.

Nothing hard to understand about it.. Its the same in the US.

You can run in to road rage in any make car however own a Jap performance car and road rage may be increased due to the bogan red neck attitude. A majority of the time if I have some one pull up hard behind me at the lights i look back and its a bogan in an old Holden. Either that or a young lady with P plates.

When building up my rb30det some years ago. I called around quite a few workshops some completely turned me away stating jap crap should not be rebuilt and placed in a wrecking yard. I was quite amazed at the attitude of some workshops.

sorry if that may offend people, but what do you want me to say? umpleasent individuals with slick black hair, bumbags and shiny rims?lol

i personelly dont see wog as a demeaning term, my girlfriend is greek. its like being called a skip, no sweat off my back

i however do take offence to that................australia has become a multicultural society and to tell the people who have a long running history here to move out its sumwhat ignorent....

Ofcourse i remember the "pack of assholes" remark. lol, ive been around perhaps longer than you cubes. :)

Seems it didnt get through even though he may well have been right.

I also recall it was because the Gibson R32 was stopped on the track and yet still managed the win despite it. What holden or ford fan wouldnt have been pissed?

I cant believe some of these workshops said that to you..and you were only..erm...surprised?

Id be downright insulted.

It did jack me off a tad especially as my previous car was a 2yr old VS 5ltr 5speed commodore that after a few mods simply fell apart. Diff broke, gearbox broke and rear irs subframe broke. So got rid of it and went jap.

Haven't looked back.

Its the "anything less than 5 litre is crap" mentality.

But they make Toyotas with a 5 litre engine...Nissan too.

Its not as simple as that...

Is it racism or imperialistic mentalities>?

Sif anyone in Oz has a right to be feeling that way anyway.

If its truly multicultural in this aspect, there wouldnt be a problem with japanese cars.

I suppose multiculturalism doesnt extend to the car scene then does it?

Ive never owned a ford or a holden. Probably never will.

I dont know why, but ive always thought Euros and Japanese cars were simply better at everything.

Well...maybe not everything but most things.

Australia is 60 years behind in the Automotive development game in comparison to many Euro makers for example and you cant discount that when it comes to the quality of what is locally produced.

Just take a look at the shitstorm that flew when were discussing the 427.

Im avidly against anything remotely "supercar"ish being attached to it..but look what Wheels has gone and done...

Im digressing.

Why take offence? The country has only been colonized for 200 years.... unless you're aboriginal I don't see how that statement applies, or why it even matters what someone says. If you dont like something, you move because you want to, not because someone tells you to... This country is what it is due to the migrants, of all walks of life. If that weren't the case we wouldnt have pizza, pastas, pho, lakhsa, cappuccino, etc.. history as short as 200 years means sweet fa. I'd say the vietnamese off the boat in the 70's have just as much right to chill here as the pommy descendants from the 1800's.

Bringing the topic back to the pseudo politically correct argument of what constitutes a wog or a bogan; its got sod all to do with genetics. Being a wog or a bogan is a state of mind, a way of life. Generally one accompanied with a lot of glue sniffing and machoismo posturing... basically its just overcompensation of a sort; they act tough and walk around in gangs because thats the only thing they can identify with, or rationalize their own existance. Sad that their psychological profile is so narrow minded, but there you have it.

And as for jap cars being shit? I think it comes down to what was said about bathurst; bathurst didnt start it, it just brought the ignorant attitudes of some petrol heads to the fore. I dont care where any bloody piece of technology comes from, if it works well, I'm gonna bloody well use it. To ignore progress for sentimentality is like covering your eyes with black paint, or sticking your head in the dirt like an ostrich and pretending it'll go away.

Let the haters get mad. Ignore them, provoke them, I dont care; it all depends on your own prerogative. Just be damn sure you're ready to deal with the consequences.

Well thats a very good point tho I'd argue theyre in reality, 20 years behind technologically speaking. The build quality of aussie cars is OK, probably not as good as some others but then again build quality varies drastically from model to model (even with the same brands and production lines, sometimes a minor design flaw will condemn a car to be a lemon its entire life. Ford Pinto anyone?

Aus car manufactureres just haven't got the R&D money to spend. And that shows when you compare a 20 year old GTR with a fresh of the line holden or falcon. And even then they were designed for completely different purposes so its like comparing apples and oranges.

I will say tho, for every hater you get in Aus on a Jap or Euro car, theres easily another person who respects and venerates them. The GTR didn't get its rep in Australia by listening to foreign opinions....people just respected them because they can talk the talk and walk the walk. If a bogan wants to get shitty at me while driving a family car like a Commi or Falcon, f**k em. Get mad. Go and buy a torana or an XB falcon and then show me what aussie muscle can do. Thankfully such twits are a minority and most of the time we just get people checking the car out cause its something different.

    • Update Issues 5 (plus #4) - 10 After making a claim about issue #4's missing part, DeAgostini Japan sent a whole new issue #4 and it arrived about 2 weeks after that. That was back in early March. It took another 4 weeks to receive issues 5 - 13 though. This update is for issues 5 - 10. Ove the 5 issues the front left suspension and most of the engine have been completed. The quality of the castings and fit of the parts is quite good, it seems better than DeAgostini's BNR34 Skyline GT-R from the Fast & Furious 2 movie, which (to me anyway) doesn't seem to have as tight tolerances or quite as accurate castings.  Each issue has a lot of info about the 1989 - 1993 Skyline range and other Nissan models from that era, but the focus is on the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo and the various racing it did in Japan, Europe (Spa 24hrs) and of course Australia. I've included some text translated with Google Lens in some photos and will add to them if there's anything worth including.
    • If it's for a SR20, make sure it's not the American Poncams, might as well call them Poocams. Had a set in a friend's car, all scuffed up after a few track days. Like the metallurgy Tomei USA used is junk. Went back to JDM OG Tomei Poncams, no issues till now.   Tomei USA is not the real OG Tomei.   Random rant over, fk the US of A, bunch of c u n t s.
    • Most of the industry in North America either runs on Siemens or Allen Bradley. I have two redundant S7-1500's on my desk right next to me for simulation. Siemens has been losing ground though since Stuxnet, as cybersecurity is a big thing. In my line of work that is federally regulated, you must by law have a cybersecurity management program in place and its audited and inspected every so often.  I work with Emerson PLC's daily (RX3i's) and have done large biogas/refinery projects with their DCS's. Their PLC's are somewhat OK minus the way they do PLC redundancy (You have to download on both PLC's separately every time you make a change )  As for their DCS's... you'll be limited financially first before anything else stops you. Costs are exorbiant at roughly 10x what it would cost you to do with any other system (e.g AB PAC).  1990's, those suckers are brand new haha! Kraft-Heinz (An old client when I use to work for an ESP) still runs Siemens TI505 PLC's from the mid 80's. Ohh how I don't miss working with those... you could only do a certain number of online downloads until it's "Change" buffer would be full and you would then need to go offline to do a full download. There was no warning of when this was coming up and it generally would happen when you would go in at 2am to make changes before production -_-.
    • Unfortunately, not only is that not the case, one of the main "Selling points" of safety over comms is they clearly state in writing that there's no need to segregate safety networks from non-safety networks. It always gets intermingled with everything else on an ICS/OT network.
