Well I'm glad that I got 1 chance at an almost completely dry track and managed to almost equal my best. Good to see a whole bunch of you guys again.

Tim. Bummer about the tailshaft. Hope you get it fixed soon and hope its fixed for free!

Congrats to all the SAU guys....some pretty impressive times considering the conditions :ninja:

As for me....well I found out just what Scotsman told me about well worn semis and standing water  Was impossible for me to put any power down or carry speed around a corner in all sessions except for the one just after lunch. The fact that I had an inexpensive lesson learnt in the first session didn't help my confidence either :P

Anyway time for newer semis and to look forward to the next one :)

Here's some footage of my fastest lap with my new GoPro camera. The Audio is better than I thought, although I needed to drill holes in the waterproof casing to let some noise in.

Good footage Andrew. Thanks for sharing. Audio is still ok considering.

Must have been a tad frustrating knowing that you couldn't push her any harder b/c of the conditions :P

Thanks Archie, did you pull the pin as I saw you on the entry list?

I managed to wipe 3 tenths off my PB, but I was slow through turn one and coming on to the front straight because of a lack of grip.

The 19 will come.........................eventually.

was a good fun day, got one dry run in but didnt beat the 1,26.6 i got last time :ninja:

cars having coil pack dramas, hmm, splitfires might be the go...

my last session was my worst by far! the car cut out all together while i was leaving the pits. i had to completely switch it off and then on again while it was still coasting. then of course i only had rear wheel drive... i was past by everyone! i was getting some pretty mad angles though... :P

Yep pulled the pin on Friday. Saw that it was going to rain and I know i would have been frustrated driving around there in the wet so I thought I'd leave it for another time.

3 tenths is pretty good considering the conditions of cold track temps etc

What time did u end up with?

I'm sure it will :P Then you can also say you've done a teen at Sandown :ninja:

1.21.5 on the last lap of that vid.

Wasn't taking any chances.

Did you have the GT-R with the Sabbadin sticker on the rear window?

I think I was behind you in the last session when you were oversteering out of every corner, looked like fun :ninja:

yeahuh that was i. it was both fun and frustrating at the same time... it just made feel real sorry for all the boys out there in gts-t's

yours was the 32 gtr with the "z1lla" plates right? just watched the youtube footage, its got really great sounding exhaust note! :D

Well done Andrew, great time considering the conditions.

Watching the vid shows heaps of time to behad at turn 1 and back kink, get a dry dayand teens are not far!!

Natsoft times don't show your fastest time, and apparently JFK went l:20 flat. How about Matt?? Hasn't registered a time at all?

Surely he's gone faster than Brisby by now!!

yeah, but you had a little bit more power up the straights matt, couldn't stay close enough! best part about that dry session yesterday is i'm learning to trust my brakes a bit more now, loving braking a bit later to find that bit more corner speed.

results have just gone up on the wrx site, link here http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?31/08/2008.SAN

Ben, I was behind you for a couple of sessions.....might have caught some good flamage on my in car :D

From my car? I didn't know that mine did that lol

Did you hit the wall in one of those first sessions? I remember you started in front of me then when I got down to the back of the track and saw you facing me I thought "Please say it didn't hit the wall" :)

Shepo, Yep that was mine, thanks, lots of tough GT-Rs out there, was good to hear them fly down the straight.

The timing guys had the internet connection at Sandown drop out in the afternoon so they missed about three sessions, which included the one with my fastest time. They had the hard copies on the window of the timing tower though.

Yeah John was about a second in front of me, would have been alot more although he seemed to have big problems getting power to the road without big wheel spin. I guess 440+ KW will do that :)

There is definitely 2 seconds there, just need some commitment around turn 1 and the kink as you say.

Matt had a bit of an off and ended up driving home with a bit more toe out in the rear than he started with. Not much panel damage from what I was told as the rear suspension seemed to take the brunt of the hit.

I'm looking forward to PIARC on the 21st now, anyone else coming down?

    • I replaced the whole clutch line with the chase bays braided hose, I think it removes that loop, is it the short hose that comes immediately off the slave or is there a drawing in the manual to find what you’re referring to? It was just re-bled when I upgraded to the nismo slave, old slave worked fine but I thought that might help, didn’t change a thing. It’s like the first half of the pedal is pushing air and then when it finally actuates the master the friction zone is tiny. Makes it practically impossible to launch the car
    • Yep, that was one of the things we learned fast in the past with our MX5. When you drive with the top down, you are effectively standing out in the sun, 100% of the time, and not getting in any shade (because roads aren't shaded generally!). Just like standing out in the middle of a field on a sunny 27C day is a bit of a bad plan, so is sitting in a MX5 without sun protection.
    • I also just ordered some Frankenstein bolts and side mounts to fit a hard top Just in case I do find one, basically so it doesn't need to be fixed to the car with only the front latch.......and then gaffa tape to keep it in place for the RTN journey from wherever I get it
    • If your temps are fine now, you probably won't have any issues with where your vents are as they don't look right up at the windscreens high pressure area, so any differences when giving it the beans for extended happy laps would be minimal, but, they should vent heaps when stuck in traffic  Much like how that reverse cowl on my SS let "visible" heat out when stationary, but, because it was basically at the windscreen my coolant temps on the Hwy actually raised because air was being fed into it at speed (110kph), to only come back down to around 90° when I got off the Hwy And your 100% correct about the NC currently not needing vents, but, if I was to add a turbo, and a oil cooler and intercooler in front of the condenserand radiator, and then take it to the track???? It is apparently a recommend requirement if I don't want to worry about coolant or oil temp issues, but, any of the above are possible scenarios, over time As it sits now, with the triple pass radiator and stock air conditioning system, I have absolutely no issues with either temps or air conditioning efficiency, I've been basically daily driving thie car for the last month, both on the Hwy, and peak hour, bumper to bumper traffic, but, that's pretty much expected from basically a standard engine  Talking about no issues daily driving, it was 39° the other day and I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 and then M7, with the top down, and with the air conditioning blowing nice cold air on my feet, balls, and face, well, there was one issue, my head and arms got pretty sun burnt Note to self: leave a hat and sunscreen in the car for such days 🤣
    • I would agree, unless you need something specific to the HV motor/battery side repaired or investigated, any mechanic will be able to perform normal services, but if you prefer, maybe look for a mechanic who regularly services/repairs Nissans, the VQ engines are pretty common in the Nissan lineup.  Sorry, I can't make any suggestions, I don't live in Vic.
