catchcan.jpg

Hey

My R33 GTR came with a custom catch can/water tank that looks identical to the one pictured above, does anyone know what brand catch can/water tank it is? Looks to be a nice neat design but there's no where to open the can up to drain the oil or clean the inside nor any markings to identify

Anyways, its not currently connected and I was just wondering what the best way to plumb it up is, where does the 2nd yellow hose connect to under the intake manifold?

Car isn't anything crazy, just run 14psi, with exhaust, PFC etc etc

Thanks

You could find, that hose isn't connected to anything, but just vents behind the gear box.

Yeah mine was like that, which is bad, so I took it all out.

But in that pic, it is connected to something, I just gotta find a better pic at home.

looks similar to arc style

+1

I'm pretty sure ARC doesn't make these anymore but I could be wrong.

Also I'm hunting for one of these.

Cheers

really depends if you want to keep it legal..

I have mine set-up such that both cam breathers run to a large baffled tank with the baffle there to force the blowby into the tank rather than going straight to the oulet (this depends on the shape of the tank). I then pipe the blowby from the can to the rear of the car. The legal version of this set-up would see the breather from the catch can running to the inlet pipe on the turbo/s. There are plenty of other ways of dealing with pcv but for a streetcar this seems to be the easiest.

edit; I definantly would recommend a catch can, take a look at the inside of a stock gtr intercooler to see why!

there are plenty of companies that make combination washer bottle/catch cans for R33 and 34 GTR. no way to tell where yours is from without pics. to empty it you simlpy unhook the pipes, un bolt it, lift it out and tip it upside down.

when i get close to back on the road,

i have a massive sheet of alloy at my friends workshop.

we're making airbox and an oil catch/radiator overflow/washer bottle all in one to go in the location where the 32 Gtr battery usually is.

Thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated

My car is going for a tune on Friday so I might see if the mechanic can hook it up for me while I'm there if not then I will just do it over the weekend

Appreciate the offer Gareth, I should be a member by the next official event and will more than likely turn up. If its not connected by then your help would be much appreciated

Sure, if you get stuck PM me, once I get the oil change done I usually take the car out most weekends.
