Ok people my cruise idea

http://www.classicadelaide.com.au/

there was a spot I went to last year that would be awesome to take the club there this year. Plenty of parking up on this grass hill and your standing near your car so no need to worry about it. For those of you not familiar with the rally its not just old cars, last year had a 34 vspec and a couple of 360 Ferrari race cars rocking it and the Nissan Silvia off ns.com and even some moddified cars twin turbo v8 commo? Best free day of racing I’ve seen anyways.

Bad things at this spot are you need to get there 30min early before they block the road and your trapped there until they finish like 4hours later maybe the only way in n out during is a really bad dirt road no respectable skyline should be driving on although I did see a wrx take that route.

I was thinking bbq lunch and drinks (maybe not alcoholic as we still gota drive after) would be the way to go and maybe if someone’s got some sort of shade thingy that would be good to have there as well.

Here’s what I stole from the classic site will probably be the exact same this year expecting it to be sat 22nd of November 2008

STAFFORD RIDGE - SPECTATOR VIEWING AREA 5 - 1.45pm

Enter the Spectator Viewing Area via Lenswood on Coldstores Road and stand left of Crofts Road. It's a great spot - you see the cars come out of a left hander, race towards you (you are standing on a 3-4 meter high embankment), then around a 90 degree right-hander and disappear downhill. UBD Map 112 C10

with dohmar cooking, he's game for going nutz with the fest but it depends on numbers and if people are happy to pay a lil extra $$ we'll have to wait n see.

Ok finally anyone that can help please let us know with things like

-shade

-big ass bbq’s or Webbers, not to mention getting them down there (looks at a certain member with a red holden ute. come on man we need your help)

-boom box or even a good car stereo would be good (as long you don't end up stuck with flat battery)

-some kind of soccer ball or something to kick around between cars

-score boards for passing cars (I don’t know)

organised by the official dan party for the benefit on sau community in conjunction with the classic adelaide rally

As noted, I'll be there. Anything to put flame to flesh

im in. just need a good camera now

I'm looking at selling my Canon 350D if interested Luke....same camera that Daniel (Kalel) uses.

I think this is a great idea Dan but I'd think twice about a soccer ball between cars though......with all the car action you won't have time for that anyway.

was there last time, that late in the day there can be big gaps between cars, booting the ball around can happen a bit further away up the hill or just lil soft taps between people closer. its not like your jammed against the car there is plenty of room.

once before 2006 i think a train derailed n left the whole thing running 3hours late so a ball is always good in these emergencys :P

Would be awesome to get something like that, just need something small and good that i can take away with me also.

I hear you can get filipina brides pretty cheap these days if you dont mind waiting for immigration and the pre-nuptual. Theyre pretty small too.

Sounds good, but there's a better place to watch the rally on chainy's........ Actually, forget it, this stage is always on the thursday. I took the day off last year. :P

I'm a rally nut!!

Sounds like a good idea but is there anywhere else we can go to watch it? I thought that the stafford ridge spectator area last year was a bit of a dissapointment. The corner is a 90 degree and most of the cars take it fairly easy through there (my opinion), compared to other sections of the rally, there's not much room to hang it out sideways.

Does anyone know any secret spots????

the lancer saftey car drifted it, but he drifts every corner i think (crazy mofo) i like it cause it shows off some funky late braking, u get to see the cars a fair bit rather than a small glimpse past and there's plenty of room to park ya car close by n setup a bbq. but if you guys know i a better spot im all ears.

i went up near windy's as well and they looked like they were going soft to me around those bends, well 9 outa 10 of em. i think there time restriction thingys were effecting them up there

Just to add to this regarding catering;

Can do a nice spread if we get enuff people. Wont cost a lot

If I can get one combo bbq with hotplate/flame grill and one weber I should be able to keep everyone happy.

Real easy to buy a bulk amount of sausages, patties, chevaps, kebabs and what not...if we get enough people I'll do 2x legs of lamb , should be able to feed 12-15 people (and thats not including the other stuff I could do...)

Price will include bread and salad and condiments. As noted, all drinks are BYO, couple beers are ok but pls make sure you're not leaving the venue pissed; or if you are, get a mate/passenger to drive you home.

I just need some champ to provide the bbq's and some idea of who wants me to cater for em. If you wanna bring yr own shiznit, cool, but Im a kitchen nazi and wont share bbq's cause my bbq's are all communal. If people out there wanna help out by bringing side dishes and leaving the rest to me, that could work out well but once again I'd need to know how many people are confirmed.

Catering is piss easy, if you know how many souls to feed :P

heard you talking about that at villi's last week. Would be awesome to get something like that, just need something small and good that i can take away with me also.

yeah the Canon 350D is one of the smallest DSLR's on the market. Pentax make an SLR about 4mm smaller but they're crap in comparisson.

ben this talk about food is making my mouth water.

Before I leave here to get myself a snack, I definitely think we should go the below option.

Yeah ill be there n ill go the dohmar master chief 3 course fest $10 ish

    • There's a post from a member (can't recall who), went down the path of a twin scroll G30-660 and it's doing over 300kW+ AND comes on about the same as a high flow RB25DET turbo. Have your cake and eat it too in this case. TBH, if I had a 2nd chance of building my car again (i.e. someone gave me what I wanted for my shit box, but the deal was I had to re-build another R33 and keep the change) I would just pop in a stock NEO motor (with new seals, rod bearings, ARP studs, head gasket, sump, Nitto pump), get a smaller twin scroll turbo, modify the stock low mount (keep the divider in place), and make a solid 300kW on 98RON and call it a day.
    • It's all the sound deadening, and extra shit piled into them, plus all the extra (even though it's thinner) material for crumple zones. I can't fathom in modern cars why they need canbus to the headlights, and why the headlights must be vin coded on some cars to the ECU, BCM, and security module! Especially when they claim it's for security, yet, the canbus at the headlights let's thieves steal the car in minutes, so even more cars are being stolen! The Mercedes Sprinter 907 vans. They're a huge van, but a "basic" van. Yet they have that many canbus networks, plus two Lin networks, AND an Ethernet network. Logging a single network alone of 8 byte data frames, and they will generate a 20mb log file in 5 minutes. That's one network, and I can't remember the exact amount, but there's over 10 full CAN2.0B networks in them. I'm not a fan of modern cars, oddly, more and more I hate DBW, and all the bullshittery the cars try and interfere with. But all that bullshittery adds weight, plus crazy regulations on crumple zones, plus, ever picked a modern seat up, half of them have like 4 electric motors in them and will weigh 30+kg each. Then all the motors for things like adjustable steering columns blah blah blah. And did I mention the sound deadening so you can even hear an ambulance right behind you even if you 7.2surround sound is off?
    • Ah ok, yeah it should be flat, I believe the r34 battery tray has these 3 bumps in them they makes it line up and everything is flat, don't see how it would tilt if everything is secured.
    • Agreed it actively wants to kill you which I love driving fast cars slow is my stick
    • Awesome! I was thinking S14 since they are longer. I'll give those a shot. Thanks for the input!
