picture of 2 different s15's with a-piller factory gauges.

If these can be roadworthy and complianced how could they be classified as illegal?

Those as with mine block very little of the forward view, if you look up the rule on this you might find that it says that there not allowed to hinder the drivers vision, mine is a greddy one but i have seen other ones that come a fair way out into the drivers view, the double and triple gauge mounts come a fair way out as well.

They are legal because thats how it is.

Why do Ferrari's get away with below 100mm and more noise than 90dB?

Because thats just how it is.

Until someone fights it (ie, lots of money and time) it'll always be that way.

Im sure you could take the Gov't to court over letting on car pass ADR's and another that clearly does not. But then, who's gonna do all that? No-one.

its in the vic roads site...

its legal but has to adhere to a few guidelines...

i looked it up a year or so ago when ash possted some link.... cant really remember the specifics...

i can test that theory out for you

ive got a spare crap gauge here and we put it on ur eye adn smack it with a hammer :P

u just want to kiss him dont u?

i dunno - the boost gauge on my a-pillar doesnt block my line of vision.......

thing is though, i find that having them where you can see them is very handy for the track.....hmmm, but i suppose we are not really talking about track work here though....

I hate having anything that blocks my vision... ...And because I'm tall that includes the rear vision mirror... ...I wonder if that could be made illegal???... ...Great Ocean Road is a bitch sometimes with all those left hand bends...

I know putting your navigator right in the middle of your windscreen is illegal... ...it's also a pain in the ass for other drivers... ...Because it blocks line of sight through the car for those behind you...

how can tacho's on the a piller be illegal....yet thousands upon thousands have gprs units with a suction cap on the dash or stuck on the windscreen, what that doesnt effect vision? or doesn't cause a hazrd in an accident?

Also having a 4.5" gprs screen on the windscreen is fine, yet a tv mounted in place of a headunit is illegal to have when driving, whats the difference? you need to look at the gprs to get where your going? exactly!!!!

these laws are double standards !!!

even so a full colour display on a 3 or 4" gprs screen is larger then most tacho's.

an the tacho isnt required to be looked at by the drive, where as the the gprs is required as its used to get to a destination, so the drive in most cases needs to look down at it

with 99% having voice instructions you dont need to look at it, you would probably look at the clock as much as you need to look at the gps.
