bbenny
Ok well as you remember before fuel was leaning out very dangerously. Ive fixed the problem by fitting new pump and regulator. Took it to the dyno today to see if it still had the cut... and it did but thanks to better fueling ive actually gained power and A/F ratios are much safer. (see pic) All i need to do now is either get my ECU tuned or fit a boost cut defender and/or tune the SAFCII. After talking to the guys at Envy after my run they were talking about fitting a 300zx (Z32 i think) airflow meter and that should fix my problem. Has anyone done this? does it work without having to fiddle the standard 32 ECU?? Dyno results with new pump and reg. - note: it still cuts out Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/23045-hks2530-stage-2/ Share on other sites
GTS-t VSPEC
The Z32 won't work without a remapped ECU. If your planning on not changing this setup then get the chip mapped. If your likely to keep pushing it then get the SAFC. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/23045-hks2530-stage-2/#findComment-493734 Share on other sites
bbenny
Damn! i knew it sounded too easy... thought i had a cheap way out. ive already got the SAFC but that wont prevent the boost cut. GTS-t VSPEC
The power curve is looking nice at least:D Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/23045-hks2530-stage-2/#findComment-493757 Share on other sites
bbenny
yeah but its so depressing seeing it go up and then suddenly stop! haha i want it to keep going up and not cut out. do you know much about boost cut defenders? are they dodgy or do they work ok? GTS-t VSPEC
They do work, but not a neat solution in my book. They intercept the signal from the AFM, and prevent it from maxxing out, which is what causes the boost cut. I'd go the remap, a neater solution, plus you'll end up with more power:D Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/23045-hks2530-stage-2/#findComment-493786 Share on other sites
bbenny
if im on a limited budget and do have to use a boost cut will that intercept of airflow affect the way in which the SAFC works? ir does it just cancel a "max-out" signal? GTS-t VSPEC
Hmm, I'm not sure how they'll run in conjunction. My guess would be to have the signal from the SAFC run into the boost cut defender. That way the SAFC will moify the signal, and the defender will prevent a maxxed signal. bbenny
yeah good call. i dont want to buy one then find out i cant use the two together. is it possible to retain my ecu settings and get someone just to remove the max setting? or for that price would it be more economical to just get the whole thing remapped on the dyno? GTS-t VSPEC
You could, but if your going to the trouble of doing it, then get the whole thing done. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/23045-hks2530-stage-2/#findComment-493807 Share on other sites
Brody
what boost is it running on the 2530? hows it feel to drive? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/23045-hks2530-stage-2/#findComment-493881 Share on other sites
Steve
bbenny, A boost cut defender, whilst not an ideal way of doing business, will do the job fine. If you are on a limited budget, this is perfect. Upside is that you can pick them up second hand, and if you decide to go remapped ecu, or something like e-manage down the track, you could easily sell it again and recoup some if not most of the money you paid;) If you need to find one second hand, drop me a pm and I can point you in the right direction, as I know of a shop here in Adelaide that has a couple in good condition. Steve
Oh and a boost cut defender will definately be alot cheaper than a remapped ecu and z32 afm. The downside is that you may have to tune to 1.2bar or whatever, then if you wind the boost down it will run a bit rich as the ecu/safc wont know the difference between the air flows - if you know what I mean. bbenny
Brody: its running about 10 - 12psi there it creeps a little so i didnt get to see exactly how high, but its fairly low. i plan on running 1.2bar (18psi) Steve: i think i am going to have to run a boost cut defender as this whole project has made me poor. my only concern is that it may affect how the SAFC functions... GTS-t VSPEC
bbenny, If your on a budget, then Steve is correct, but there only band-aid solutions to the problem. I'd suggest saving a bit longer to get the remapped ECU:D Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/23045-hks2530-stage-2/#findComment-493925 Share on other sites
GTS-t VSPEC
bbenney, I'm pretty sure if you set it up in the manner I suggested then it would be fine, but you may want to ask a local tuner you trust. bbenny
yeah well i think i may go ahead and do it, if it doesnt work ill try sell the thing. but your suggestion does sound like it will work Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/23045-hks2530-stage-2/#findComment-493931 Share on other sites
GTS-t VSPEC
If you buy them second-hand, then you can usually sell them off for the same price if they don't suit your needs later down the track:D Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/23045-hks2530-stage-2/#findComment-493933 Share on other sites
nissky
:D :D 213rwKW! anyone wanna swap an r34 turbo for 2530 hey your starting to leant out again at 5300, i think your injectors are running out capacity now, so you will have to increase fuel pressure on the regulator but then you will run richer at bottom end........... ------> remap will fix all your problems! Roy
bbenny... I have a std ECU that doesnt appears to have a boost cut of fuel cut, but still has the speed limiter. I am no longer using it, so your welcom to try it to see if it solve your problem. I say it doesnt have the std cuts because i accidentally ran the std turbo up to 21 psi with no cuts. Then more recently i was running a TD06 at 1.2bar with no cuts. ...may be worth a try ... let me know.
