only some small parts are a piss take....just not sure what the answer is yet, so contest is still open.

BTW coil pack and plugs are the stand out winners in the poll so far

had a serious missing problem for the last few weeks, got so bad that its doing it at at idle and all the way through all gears, non stop heavy shuddering in the car when it happened but sometimes it ran like nothing was wrong (usually half hour on half hour off if that makes sense)

gave my workshop a call and they determined it was probably the plugs as i hadnt changed them since buying the car and dont know when they were last changed.

pulled out some pretty filthy looking sparkies and replaced with double platinums gapped at .76 (they said thats close enough to .8)

on my way home about 25 mins away from garage and the bloody thing started doing it again, so yesterday morning i thought i'd take it to joe shmoes service station (as my guy has just left for japan for a few weeks, anyone guess what workshop?) he had a look and said he didnt want to touch it due to not having the right equipment and know-how about these kind of cars.

anyway to cut a long story short he did have a look and unplug the electronic fuel injection plug from the side of the cover (orange i think) and had a look and as soon as he plugged it back on the missing stopped, took it off again it started missing plugged it back on again and it stopped :stupid:

not too sure if this is the problem as i said it happens on and off and it might have been coincedental that it stopped as soon as he plugged it back on, but i've been driving all weekend without any problems (touch wood) so maybe thats an idea for you

Jimbo2000: if it happens again, try removing the cover that sits above the coil packs, u know the one that sez Nissan DOHC whatever... coil packs may be getting too hot (this cured my own problem - mostly: just need to get more electrical ground done and it will be perfect)

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, well, how embarassment.

It appears that Fatz was right, and the answer wasn't even in the poll.

Its now got a replacement Crank Angle Sensor as of Friday and problem has not re-appeared as yet.

Thx to everyone that responded.
