If it were the clutch the only thing that makes the clutch hit the foor is when the pressure plate fails, you then have around 1/4 of clutch.

I used to have that happen on my old cortina 250 4 speed quite often with the standard clutch due to dropping the clutch and slapping it in gear. i.e 3rd gear chirps.. :D 4th gear chirps with a swerve. lol those were the days..

When I replaced my clutch master cyclinder It was more difficult than the average clutch to bleed and get the air out of due to the little box inbetween the slave cyclinder and master cyclinder.
