fixed

I dunno what it is, I'll have a look when I get home, but it just looks like a bracket for holding something, and nothing in your car seems to be falling off, so not a big worry :ermm:

I originally thought it had to do with the standard snorkel, but it obviously doesn't...

it's just a bracket, and I can't imagine it is too important. Your car seems a LOT more standard then the other, so it could be for or from any thing at any time while the owner was modifieng things...

I'll still have a gander at mine when I get home for you though :ermm:

The only thing I can think of at the moment is that it's there to hold the oil breather in place. You can see half of it just behind the pod box, it looks like a little pod filter. The two oil lines are heading to it...

Certainly not standard :ermm:

not really... some people just don't like them...

They are usually removed durring modification... but yours looks pretty stock...

well yer the car is untouched modification wise!

i just noticed the bolt holes being empty and tried having a look at what it was

Do u know exactly how the part operates or what it does or any information on the part?

depending on who complied your car it may be in a different location. - havea look around for something with 3 hose lines on the top of it.

2 lines from the plenum/TB - 3rd line goes to the fuel tank.

for ingestion of fuel fumes at idle. similar to whats refered to as "pollution gear" on old carbi engines.

wont affect anything, but EPA stipluates it is required.

sounds like the same thing, just hidden -

yer well i dont know much about the part apart from when i was getting the car road worthy in order to do so it stated "secure the pollution canister" which was located virtually infront of the drivers side wheel guard!

unless anyone can think of a part which sits in the same position i mentioned, im gathering that thats it??

thanks alot guys

ah...i dont have one of those but also never noticed it was missing!

I have a big similar container located umm above the heat shield for the turbo, i always assumed it was an oil catch can :s now im wondering if its this? kinda embarrasing lol

yep some places use a real large unit and place it there as ther is no room at the front for that size unit.

I know i'm a bit late to the game, but I was going to say "it's where your factory charcoal cannister should be!".

I noticed a few years ago when I was shopping around for my Skyline that most of the cannisters had been replaced and relocated as part of compliancing. I think some compliancing places don't have the same-sized replacements, so they have to mount their bigger units somewhere else just to fit them in.

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
