hey all

prob a stupid question and been answered a million times b4 but i still wana ask.

my r33 is completely stock apart from catback exhaust, bov and K&N pod

ive read in a few places that in a stock condition, they have a dual stage boost with max at 7psi. but wen i put my foot down, on the stock boost gauge, the needle does not shift past the halfway mark, around 3.5-4 psi.

i dont really understand this so any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Jaye

The stock guage on your dash isn't in PSI, it's in mmHg. That +7 reading right at the top is the equivalent of about 1 BAR boost (which is around 14 PSI).

So halfway up the guage is around the 7 PSI mark, which would be correct.

That's my understanding anyway.

Another question - I remember reading somewhere that the stock boost for an R32 GTS-t is 10 PSI. Can anyone tell me if that's in fact true? It sounds high for standard boost.

yep, 10psi is the standard boost on R32s

factory boost is .7 bar thats whats on the dash

R33 factory boost is 7psi, 0.7bar is just over 10psi which is not right

Standard boost in a R33 GTS-t is 5psi untill 4500rpm then changes to 7psi to redline. This is controlled by the ECU and standard boost controller fitted to the car.

Standard boost in a R32 GTS-t is 10psi. I believe this is actuator controlled........without a standard EBC. Happy to be corrected on that.

Another question - I remember reading somewhere that the stock boost for an R32 GTS-t is 10 PSI. Can anyone tell me if that's in fact true? It sounds high for standard boost.

Not high for standard at all.

EVO's run around 19psi standard, dependant on model.

For everyones reference.

1bar = 100kPa (kilopascals) = 14.5PSI (pounds per square inch) = 750mmHg = 0.9869233 Atmosphere's

The stock R33 GTS-t gauge is actually in x100mmHg (millimeters of Mercury).

Therefore, if the highest mark is 700mmHg your halfway mark on the standard gauge is 350mmHG which is equal to 6.77PSI....rounded........ close enough to 7PSI considering the marks on the gauge are only as accurate as the smallest unit which is each quarter, off memory, and that it actually goes just over halfway when at full boost.

So that's basically an expanded version of what I said in the first reply. :) Happy to help auss13.

I didn't realise the EVOs ran such high boost from factory. I was saying that 10 was high in comparison to other Skylines as well as WRXs and such.

WRX's Last I knew ran 14psi? newer models probably vary.

I expanded on yours because the units were incorrect.
