GUYS! and GIRL!

i've spent the last year or so wanting a new car, i have a cefiro, but i want something else, nothing wrong with the ceffy, justttttttt

rwd, turbo, powerful, me behind the wheel

i don't trust it

ANYWAY

this brings me to my next car

BUT

im not sure what i want!

so, i was hoping you gangsters would be able to help!

SO

my choices are

F50 Nissan Cima

or

the current model Nissan Micra

these cars are complete polar opposites, the cima being a VIP saloon and the micra being... well.. a micra..

cima pro's are...

unique, will probably never be common,

leather woodgrain

sleek looks

V8

many features

car that represents being "grown up"

cima cons

compliance is an issue cos it would be shipped and complied in another state, then re-transported to WA

it's a second hand car

petrol would cost a lot (i don't really care about this though)

parts and service would be a major issue that comes with their rarity and scarceness

plus

the other major con is

...i have to IMPORT it... like, i work 48 or so hours a week i dont have time to be worrying about importation and phonecalls to gov't agencies etc

NOW

micra pros

new

cheap

economical

would look good the way i intend to modify it

walk into yard, buy car, get car, drive car,

micra cons

1.4 motor

doesn't seem much fun to drive

considering its the "new model" hasn't this car been out now for like... fkn YEARS!?

new car = depreciation

oh and

being a new car you're fairly limited with "what you can do" modification wise before you void your warranty

so.... HALP!!!!

oh and for the record

if i got a cima

it would be farely modded with VIP gear, riverside wheels, exhaust system, possible airbag suspension,

if i got a micra

it would be black, black tint, chroming of certain parts, blacking out of other parts. twin exhausts, lowered, wide oldschool punchy rims.

It pretty much boils down to one thing: are you ready to give up throwing cars around for fun?

If you are over driving like a twat and just wanna get to places you have to go in something comfortable, stylish, yet something different from the 10billion Falcon/Commy/Magna/Camrys out there - Cima

If you want a car you can still punt through the hills and can have a bit of fun with, and don't mind the homosexual stigma that comes with modding a Micra (and don't mind having it lose a third of it's value as you drive out the showroom door) then go the Micra.

all comments taken on board...

that's the thing, i probably am not ready to stop driving like a twat though!

but i feel that i have to...

cima are a bit old yes, they're not getting any younger - but the "current" model micra has been out for aobut 4-5 years worldwide hasn't it?!

so it's not really much better

in short the age doesn't bother me

especially considering most cima's are fairly low kms anyway

as for the prospect of a swift, my gf / ex gf / best friend / soulmate / thingy / person has one and it's pretty cool - typical hotbroad minded female car

black, bold magenta pinstripes (custom ones not those ghey factory ones they have now) and illegally dark tint

pretty cool car i think but i dont want the same car as her

haha

yeah i saw that on youtube lastnight

pretty daunting stuff really

and

nah i want either black, white, or the pearl / silver depending on what it looks like

but as i said

still deciding on the cima haha

no thanks.

i already have my contacts set without the need for use of him.

it's quicker and cheaper to do it the way i already have planned

and

BOTH cars would be modified of course, i'll never drive a standard car.. EVER

how will the micra be a fun car though? like, i don't get it how will that car be fun than a cima?

what's not fun about the cima's 4.5ltr multi award winning V8? haha

i personally don't see either car as being more fun than the other really

the micra is a younger person's car which would suit me more, being that im only 22

and MY micra would not look like a hairdresser car, i'd make it look sweet don't you worry! =)

but i would do the same with a cima as well

GRRRRRR this is so hard

i'm in a glass case of emotion

uhhh, cos that would be an old piece of shit? and i already have a really good cefiro?

why would i get a car that not only removes my balls, but is also a shitty old toyota that nobody cares about that FF anyway...

=/

no offence

haha

that's what my micra would sort of look like, except without the fabulous profound rims but more SSR type II / longchamp XR-4 style rims

Micra = what 1200kg wet? Cima = more like 1800 kg. That right there is pretty much game over, then you factor in the lazy V8 torque, secluded environment of a decent luxury car, not to mention the comfort, and it'd be like driving your lounge room around. Sure you'd have a bit of fun at the traffic light grand prix, but I couldn't see it being much chop through the twisties and you sure as hell wouldn't bother drifting it.

The Micra on the other hand, light as (by todays standards), an engine that you can rev, would be reasonably nimble, would still feel connected with the outside forces as your driving. Sure it'd be a little bit slower, but it'd be fun to thrash it around. With some suspension, an exhaust and wheels it'd look and sound and feel like a fun car.

Thats my take on them though, having driven similar cars.

*edit* and after seeing the black Micra above, I'd definately go that. Has some of the Cima's looks appeal with that kit, plus you don't have to deal with lugging a nearly 2 ton car around with a V8 (hello fuel consumption :P)

Hell I'm even cosidering getting one of the damn things myself after seeing that :P

Bottom line... What do you want the car for?

You will never be able to decide until you have this answer.

Obviously has to look great and be personalised but that comes after.

Write a list of things the car MUST have. ie: number of seats, boot size, all the stuff that makes cars different.

What are the other factors that are important to you.

The more you define the more the answer will show itself!!

im thinking micra hey

cima is good but it's just a pipedream for the amount of effort required to get one

what do i want the car for?

getting from point a to point b

i dont want a racecar or anything like that

and i live in perth, work in perth, there ARE no twisty's except for "zig zag" which is just dumb anyway

but nah i'm thinking micra

wouldn't take much to make it a f*kn wicked car

i've always had a soft spot for them since i saw them back in 06 but lastnight i pretty much fell in love when i started thinking about the concept of the black out themed murdermicra

uhhh, cos that would be an old piece of shit? and i already have a really good cefiro?

ummm dude, i think you may have gotten a tad confused, AE111 was the last model made, ie 1998-2002. And it's almost twice as powerful stock for stock than a micra.

and micras are FF too. Maybe you should look into what you are saying before you ignite the flamethrower.

no offence.

not sure

but cima is all auto aswell

im not really TOO concerned about the manual / auto thing

my cefiro is auto

i like being able to turn corners while eating a quarterpounder while texting on a mobile n clip my toenails at the same time

    • yeah i agree paint match stops it from standing out so much, oh that's actually really good to know i was wondering if it would help with air flow now actually having an outlet in the bonnet. Will have to focus on ducting into and out of the radiator now to make the most of it.
    • I would paint match the whole thing to avoid unwanted attention  I had a similar bonnet, paint matched, on my old R33 GTST, but mine was a fibreglass jobbie made by Blitz in QLD, they work extremely well for radiator efficiency and under bonnet temps
    • Does anyone run this kit with factory plenum? Does the adapter and bosch tb fit under factory strut brace? I wanted to get this setup before going forward facing manifold. Thanks
    • small update time, after always wanting a "cool" looking bonnet for my car and always struggling to find one for the series 2 that i liked and wasn't an insane amount of money. Saw one i liked on RHDjapan from D-speed in Japan the price was very good for a carbon bonnet so good infact i was a little unsure how much i trusted it, decided to bite the bullet and with the help of jesse streeter in not long at all it was at my door. Once it was delivered i ran in from work and quickly unboxed it and to my surprise the quality was actually pretty good i quickly removed the old bonnet and placed on the new one to test it out and even the fitment wasnt too bad at all. Then decided to paint the little grille in the bonnet black to stop it sticking out so much.   I decided to not mess around with the hood latch and just install some aero catch hood pins, having never installed them before did some YouTube university classes and i was good to go. fair to say it is not a fun job at all from making brackets so the pins sit nicely and actually cutting through the bonnet but also being very scared of cutting the holes too big it took wayyyy longer than i would like to admit but finally got it there. Then it was time for a quick test drive to ensure the latches actually worked and thankfully the bonnet looked very stable. I still think paint matching the bonnet and leaving just the part that sticks up as carbon would help make it all look alot neater as im not sure how i feel about all that carbon on a very fridge white car but will leave it as is and see how i feel with time.
    • I think it's bound to happen, you finally get it all perfect, and bam, something will happen. I took a while to get a Commodore rear quarter repaired where a P Plater clipped it. Two days after getting it back, Sarah wiped it out on a concrete pillar in an underground car park... This is why I take forever to repair them, it stretches how long until it gets bent again... 😛
