yeh thats our car...my old man discovered sau and is slowly learning about online forums lol....so he has been doing his own thing on here. Hopefully in a few weeks we will have a new motor that will hold together! But in the long ass wait for the machining to happen we have been working on a few other things to hopefully make the car abit quicker/reliable/tidier and more fun to drive.

Very nice setup Darren ;)

The beast should be fun on the track.

We should put a SAU GTR team into the Queensland 500 Team Enduro at QR. It should be fun

Hey mate will definatly be keen on putting together a taem for the QLD 500 I would say Mark and Russ would be more than interested aswell. Would be a great event and I think a team of GTR's would do really well in that event. I will be catching up with Russ this weekend sometime so will gee him up and will have a chat to you about at the next track day.

How have you found the scavenger from the rear of the head??

Im using -12 scavnegers and a -10 from the rear of the head.

I was concerned about the feed not getting enough oil at lower speeds and damaging the pump so ive left the oil restrictor out for the time being.

Curious to know your thoughts??

Not had any problems with the scavage of the head as the pump does not need a great deal of oil in the scavage stages to keep it properly lubricated. Have run the same dry sump set up on another car that i have built that has done quite a few klm's now and works a treat. With a dry sump set up you should not need to run a oil restrictor in the block so you should not have any problems.

The wiring is for the motec is around 3/4 done at the moment should be done by the end of the week or early next week and then will be getting a tune so should have some results by then providing no little hicups pop up.

Hey guys a quick update. Had a few little issues with the car wich i should now be on top of. Unfortunatley though i have been unable to dedicate much time to the car over the last few months due to work commitments the ecu install is done and have performed some cold start and light throttle tuning. I will hopefully get the time to get the full power tune done early in january as my tuner is back on th 12th so i will be trying to get the car booked in first cab of the rank.so will hopefully have a some results to post up before to long.

Angus the fuel pumps are working without any problems though this has only been during light load running in.

Bosch pumps are always a little noisy but this seems fairly unavoidable.

Though I have run the same fuel system in another GTR that i have built that has done some serious track time without any problems. The fuel temp does not seem to be a problem but if you do have any heat issues with your fuel i would recomend checking your fuel reg as I have had some drama with fuel temps while running sard regs as they seem to restrictive for high hp aplications once changed to a larger free flowing reg the fuel temp issues were no longer a problem. Hope that helps Daz.

Hey all just a quick update. Have had a few headaches with the car got it on the dyno and did all the light throttle and cold start and then started to give it a few power runs.

This is when the drama started to unfold with 1bar of boost as soon as it would get to 5k rpm it would start to push coolant out of the radiator but the car never ran hot. So off the dyno it came to get to the bottom of the problem. It had built up so much pressure in the cooling system that it had started to baloon the end tank of the radiator. so pulled the engine out and stripped it down. Had the head crack tested all ok deck of block dead straight. I could see slight indication that the head gasket had lifted. After a bit of head scratching finally found the problem was a faulty thermostat it was opening enough to circulate thru the cooling system at lower rpm but causing a major restriction as soon as rpm was lifted. This would have contributed to creating a weak spot in the gasket allowing combustion pressure to finnish the job. a bit odd thou as I would have thought that the pump would have cavitated or radiator hoses would have let go first ( they were balloning and makeing an attempt to let go but somehow managed to hold on). Car is now back together and all seems fine have had it on the dyno breifly and have driven it for a few klm's to check coolong system is operating as it should be. and all seems good.

Now just waiting on my tuner to get back from dubai / shrilanka to finnish off the tune so finger crossed i will have some results within a few weeks. Have also purchased some new suspension components for the car so will post up some pics soon.

Bloody heck that's some rotten luck Darren! Difficult problem to isolate too.

Regarding the hoses not popping first, funnily I've also experienced a similar thing many years ago as a young fool. I was doing many many donuts on the mudflats in a KF turbo 4WD Laser until it was really cooking, and instead of popping a hose or gasket the radiator tanks burst right off it.... big bang!

Glad you found the issue and you can move on mate :P

Car looks great mate!

A lot further along than mine, but I'll catch up eventually :)

Great work, and I can't wait to see more updates! Shouldn't be long before we see this beast terrorising unsuspecting Porsches on the track :(

Thanks guys is coming along but as we all know these things always take longer than expected especially when you run into drama's along the way

That is the plan. I have all the confidence in the world that the car will be more than capable will just have to see about the driver though in saying that there seems to be a lot of accountants and companu ceo's driving porkers that would definatly fit into the same catagory.

    • Howdy friends, So another weird one today, I was looking into replacing some broken clips holding the front grille for the R32 GTR (part number 01553-03831), and noticed the brackets which are supposed to hold the grille in place were also missing 😑. I do recall seeing this issue many years ago, but didn't fix it at the time. A quick look on eBay and I was able to find the genuine brackets, along with all the screws which suited the headlights (part numbers 26042-08U05,26092-08U05). Happy days!....  Once they arrived however there was an extra nut in the packaging which implied that there should also be a bolt or a stud, and sure enough, after a bit of searching I found this thread from 2013, and @Ants clearly shows a stud should be present. Reading around a bit more, it's possible the headlights on my car are the "povo pack" headlights as mentioned by @funkymonkey in this thread way back in 2008. This could explain why the studs are missing on my set of headlights. Looking at the headlight diagram I wasn't able to see a suitable part number for the stud itself. The headlight did indeed have a recess that looked like it would accept a stud, but interestingly no thread or anything obvious how the stud would be affixed to the headlight, I suspect it may have been glued in, press fit, or melted into the plastic at the factory. Another member may be able to clarify if they happen to have a genuine set of N1 headlamps. The only thing we have to work with within the recess is a keyway which likely is there to prevent the stud from rotating within the recess. In any case, back to 3D printing, I put together a model which acts like a pug with a friction fit inside this recess, making use of the keyway so it doesn't rotate while tightening a bolt. Printing in TPU will allow it to slightly swell making a nice snug fit without cracking the part. I've designed the adaptor it to accept an 20 mm M6 bolt (stainless with a cap head in my case), as opposed to the standard M5 stud and I made use of the standard galvanised split washer that came with the genuine brackets from Nissan. Once the bolt and screws were all in place, giving the bracket a gentle shake gave the classic "shaking the car" feeling, very solid, which gives me confidence this is going to be able to hold on much better than the janky solution which seems to have been here for the past decade or so. Overall I'm really pleased with how this turned out and maybe there are more people out there running these headlights without a centre stud at all! • Hey everyone, This is my first post apart of the introduction. I tried searching a bit on the forum but couldn't really get a straight answer. I got the car to my mechanic as I felt it being weak. It seems that it was missing on two cylinders due to the injectors. I had all my injectors clean and the car runs much better. The mechanic also confirmed my suspicions that the cat is clogged and needs to be tackled asap. The cat rattles a bit and the hot exhaust warning frequently lights up when driving after getting the injectors clean. In my introduction I was asked about what modification I might be interested in and mentioned a cat delete. From what I was told, this is not really beneficial on the RB20DE and there are more cons than pros.  Could perhaps anyone give some suggestions on what the best course of action would be since the current cat is toast and needs to be removed/replaced anyway? I can also sometimes smell a strong smell of fuel, but I'm not sure if this is related.
    • Hope the cans went down well at least
    • 255 can't go wrong with the price.
    • When I was replacing my pump due to being stranded in the wrong state, I went with the Deatschwerks 320lph kit. It is a direct plug in to the stock wires, harness, everything. It comes with a plug... but you can plug the OEM plug directly into this thing. https://justjap.com/products/deatschwerks-dw300-fuel-pump-nissan-s13-silvia-r32-r33-r34-skyline-c34-stagea?currency=AUD Downside: Won't actually flow that much on boost if you want to push it on E85, but it's comparable to the 040/255 etc. Little more actually.
