Respray

Hi, i was looking into respraying my car in the same colour - midnight purple.

Just wandering when a respray is done in the same colour do they just remove the clear coat off and paint or do they take it down to the metal?

depends mate entirely on what kind of job you want done and how much you want to spend. For a truly show car finish, back to metal will be required but this is going to cost mate, not sure on exact price per litre of paint but labour and paint back to metal (on the assumption no dents.rust) you will not have much change from $7,000

depends on brand of paint, the paint we use at work is one of the most exspensive on the market and we pay about $600 for a clear kit, there are cheap brands that are like $100 and PPG from memory is about $400.

USeally for a re-spray they just sand all the clear off with about a 600 grit paper then apply the colour again then clear it so you'll have a higher firm of paint but you really wouldnt be able to tell from just looking at it

yeah, the majority of the time its a case of sand the old paint coat, filling the dents, priming, painting. unless you are prepared to pay the cost of a bare metal finish (not cheap)

im keen to repaint my car at some point, just gotta decide on a colour :S

i'm in the sasme boat. I'll be painting my GTR straight away just can't decide on a colour
