No Crust Racing
Looks like there's some pretty big things planned. http://www.themotorreport.com.au/6494/east...go-world-class/ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/231381-eastern-creek-raceway-to-go-world-class/ Share on other sites
Nuff
I'm surprised that no one has opinions about this, it's not very well liked in the bike community and it would be a lot better if there was a 2nd track built up north or south. The biggest disappointment is that they are going to remove the very fun and high speed Turn 1 and they are going to run in reverse direction. Also the very fun downhill hairpin T9 is going to become an uphill hairpin. But it should make T2 quiet interesting since it's going to be downhill now. The biggest disappointment is that the prices will go up, especially since Oran Park isn't going to be around and there's not going to be any competition. Worst of all it's going to be shut down for 18months and where am I supposed to get my speed fix with both of the closest tracks out of commission... Gazzilla
Japanese Super GT and FIA GT world Championships having a round at Easter creek and possibly even the F1, That would be sweet indeed, except for F1, keep that In melb. hehe Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/231381-eastern-creek-raceway-to-go-world-class/#findComment-4064132 Share on other sites
scathing
Turn 1 at EC scares me, but its a shame to lose what is a very definitive part of the track. There's no other track in NSW with a corner that lets you carry as much speed. I've got some friends who've come over from Europe and look upon our tracks as glorified karting circuits since they're so small and narrow. Taking out some of the high speed aspects of EC would make it even less interesting for those top-tier races, like SuperGT and F1. Overall it looks like it could be fun, and a new track is always enjoyable, but I actually quite like the layout of the existing circuit. Like Nuff, I think they should have just created another track elsewhere and only done minor changes to the Creek. As for T1, I've a love and hate relationship with it (just like with T9). I love how scary fast it is and the absolute rush it gives, but considering that I've panicked and crashed my bike there at 200km/h it's a very expensive corner for me. Coming down from around 260km/h into a T1 and then screaming out of it is always a highlight of my monthly trip to EC. The proposed track is all accelerate, stop, turn and repeat, there are very few flowing corners. I don't think that it would compare to Phillip Island as an international track. The problem with EC is there is not enough real estate to build a nice flowing track with lots of run off areas. That's why there's the need for all of the sharp corners around the edges. The only good thing I can see coming out of are the run off areas will be tarmac and it would have prevented my crash. benm
There is plenty of room available, just a massive amount of earth to move to use all that space. I do agree on the comments about T1 and T9 though, they are definitely awesome corners. scathing
Hi Alan, long time no see. How's the 350z around EC? I haven't been around for about a year now, but the last time I was there I ran a 1:52 flat. The car feels good at EC, and in general the wider corners suit the car's weight, midrange torque, and rear end stability. Obviously, the relative lack of power compared to turbo cars means I suffer on the longer straights. 75coupe
Apart from the track changes I feel the biggest difference we will notice is price increases across both track days (porsche & ferrari clubs won't mind of course, they're made of money) and to go and watch racing live... Yes, it will invite a higher grade of motorsport but they will expect to get the money back, and as mentioned before there will be no competition from other tracks... wakefield isn't exactly close to major population.
