For those of us that go to uws parra....

how shit is it.... it was bad last semester but now they have gotten rid of 1/3 of the legit bay parking, but they have stopped people from parking on the grassed areas and stopped us from parking on the oval that no body uses.... people parked on the oval last week because the barracade wasn't there and i went to park there aswell, while walking to a lecture i noticed everyone had been finned..... thats bullshit... this was on the 2nd day of semester and there is allot of new students who wouldn't know otherwise... then the security says to park on the other campus and a bus will bring you over... the other campus gets just as full and the other day i was forced in an r33 to go four wheel driving, but not on a flat level oval... literally over bumps that allot of cars couldn't go over let alone mine... there was no damage done to the oval from people parking on the oval by the way, no tyre marks and no burnouts (i was surprised by the no burnouts)

just for the sake of it when leaving i chucked a burnout on the grass just to stir shit up because i have never met anyone that is happy with this uni... giving out parking tickets to uni students first of all, giving them no warning that they will get tickets, they make a mistake by removing a barracade where we were allowed to park in last semester and expect us to know not to park there... im pissed off spending over an hour to find parking.... i have more chance going to park on oxford street during mardi gras...

and for info sake, i copped a parking fine last semester and i copped it because i was in the wrong, i learn't my lesson so i don't park illeagal anymore but allot of innocent people are being booked this semester for the uni managers and the security guards mistakes!!!

ps: the burnout on the grass was worth the 5mins of cleaning mud and grass out of my wheel arches

thats my 2 minute rage let out of my mind, also i am currently very sick and fever and that so im especially moody today

oi man Bankstown isn't any better lol

they wiped half the yellow permits and turned them into blue :google:

im saving up now for a blue permit for next year

I always park next to the lib on the dirty whenever i go there lol, and never been fined :)

yeah i used to park there aswell but they fine there aswell now and they put up barracade so you cant get there now...

i used to love that spot, very few people new about it

also are we allowed to get blue permits if we are just students???? they $100 a year, if i knew that i would have got a blue one from the beginning

you've tried to park on oxford street during mardi gra?

lol

ps. aren't the yellow permits only $50??

pps. I got an email warning that I assumed was sent to everyone warning that they're going to start fining again

ppps. I got stuck in that massive hole in the dirt carpark before lol good times

lol it was a figure of speach lol

yes yellow permits are $50... so what? they useless anyway

i didnt get the email this semester but if the barricade is down why did they book for?

is that the muddy whole on the endge of the soccer field?

yeah parra uni is shit to park in. you've got to get in real early if you want to find parking. last semester i realised that if you miss the lecture and rock up at 11am, you find parking. if you rock up at 9am for a lecture, you'll spend 30mins trying to park your car somewhere.

they fixed bankstown uni - the blue area in the first carpark on the left is now a yellow area - security told us it was ok to park there when it was a blue area because it was a mistake.

I've got some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that in 10 years you'll look back at your uni days and the parking will be far from you memory. Mainly because of the bad news.

And the bad news is in 10 years you'll look back at your uni degree and think, WTF did the stuff I study this have to do with my career in <insert occupation>, that has ended up costing you a shiite-load in HECS.

Two worst things about Sydney- Traffic (volume of) and Parking (usual lack of during business hours)

The stupid thing about your situation is that there's a massive disused and run-down asphalt car park just behind the campus off James Ruse Dr that's fenced off.

Park on the street at Rydalmere industrial estate and walk back over the bridge?

yeah there idiots..... and ive thought about leaving my car there but i know if i leave it there too often that one day i'lll walk back and it'll be gone lol.... rydalmere/dundas isnt very good when it comes to car boosting.....

yea parra uni carparks are gay, they turned they whole EE building ones into blue, and now there not letting you park on the grass, when they didnt have enough parking spaces as it is.

like others have said, get in there early.

and lol about the burnout many a time i have left my marks there, i was suprised no one else had. if your up for a drive, drive around to the back of the uni next to the river and try find a parking spot there on the grass or something. if not just bring a paint brush and some yellow paint :(

Try UNSW mate. No parking anywhere, unless you wanna spend half an hour traipsing around kensington looking for someone to leave, or park in a 1 hour zone and get booked every week. I haven't even bothered with the carpark, it's around $20 a day or something. Oh and cars get stolen there all the time too. Whenever i take the GTR i spend the whole day shitting myself and breathe a sigh of relief when i find it sitting where I parked it.

my memories of parking at UWS Macarthur and Bankstown are quite fond actually. Never had any dramas getting a spot.

shane you should park under haymarket as a student,,,, when i was at tafe ultimo i used to park there all the time (before i borrowed a certain benefit of my grandfather to park for free on the rip off street parking)

Unless thats what you said you already do....

The parking for a student in 2005 was $8 all day, then in 2006 it jumped to $10, i don't know if its higher now..... but you have to apply for another parking card now to get the benifit.

Back in my days we just showed our student card to the parking lady

11 bucks last semester, this semester it 12 bucks all day.

yep thats where i park sometimes....under haymarket.

say taleb tyres gt-r there on wednesday.

it is pure sex on wheels.

yeah that is A solution.

but when you go through 12-13 hour days of work and study you really dont want to be catching a train + bus to get home...

so what i do is, sit back, play some fall out boy and cruise it home.

shit $12 now.... thats crazy considering it was $8 a few years ago.... and i know inflation hasnt gone up that much and for christ sake its a car park with few expenses and especially when they use chinese workers that would probably work for next to nothing anyway lol

and dif public transport isnt an option lol well not for me anyway... ive done my time on public transport from 8 years old to 18 when i got my p's and i hate it.... and the 3 months i got suspended for killed me with public transport... now i rarely speed on the public roads due to sydneys terrible public transport network. and living in the hills, public transport is probably the worst in the state...

Then why are you whinging? I don't me to be rude but you won't catch public transport and you choose to drive so why are you complaining about parking? It was your choice to drive there in the first place.

Where I used to live there was only 1 bus which sometimes I waited over an hour! But it was easier then trying to find parking in bondi junction and get hit with a parking fine.

Such is life living in Sydney.

    • Hi soviet_merlin, We appreciate your concern regarding this possibly being some sort of PR/Political hype, I assure you that is not the case, I wish we could claim something like that, but in this case, we merely reached out for comment on the basis of the outrage we too felt, as those heavily in the automotive industry. Ps. the original source in the social media post is CarExpert not CarExplore.    Best, CE.
    • Made a bit of a discovery, but while I was cruising, I randomly decided to test to see if it worked and it showed up on my IC7. The entire time I tested it before, I never thought to turn the ignition on. I only tested it with head lights turned on but with the ignition off. Huge oversight on my end. I’m a dummy. I know.
    • G'day all, I have drilled and tapped the hole for the relocation of the timing belt tensioner. That was straight forward. I'm unsure if I need to also put another hole for the smaller stud that the spring behind the tensioner catches on (this is how it seems to work in its original spot). Or do you not use the spring behind it and just torque it down? Thanks in advance, I did a search but couldn't find anything related and it doesn't mention it in the rb30det sau guide.
    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much
