S1 Early Or Late

Hey all,

I have a 97 Stagea but have no idea how to work out if it is a early or late S1.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Have a look at the ECU (pull up the bit covering the passenger step and take off the cover in theLH footwell). Mine is numbrered 23740 OV300 which i think is the early, more common one.

the build date of the car is on the plate in the engine bay

96 is early late 97 is late, if you have a 98 s1 its one of the last

most s1 would be 1996-1997

so i guess i have a late S1

Early is 09/96 - 08/97

Late is 08/97 - 08/98

Series II

Early is 08/98 - 08/99

Late is 08/99 - 06/00

yes the v10 ECU is the same as mine, so you will have challenges with the wiring. but as I said in the other thread, talk to Mark at Hills Motorsports, he has a pretty straightforward solution to run r34 gtt PFC in it. very good result compared to the standard computer.
