wow this thread took and unexpected turn, but yeah, most things are possible with the right know how and money.

The good thing about cars is the way we can modify them to suit our own specific needs and taste, for the past 8 years I've owned a R33 GTS25 sedan, it's nothing overly special to look at and it's slow as in a straight line, (but I love the car to bit's) and like Cara, I've spent a heap of money on it over the years building it up to the way I want it.

People ask why waste time and money on a GTS25 sedan when you could have had a modded GTS25T coupe for the same money and it would be heaps quicker? of course they are right, but for me it goes a bit deeper than that, why should I be like everyone else?, sure boost is fun, and it sure does have it's advantages, but it's so common, whats wrong with been a little different, just imagine how boaring things would be if we were all the same.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, you do what makes you feel happy, don't get defensive or discouraged when sceptics challenge you, life too short waste time arguing what is or what isn't possible, when you have already proven that it can be done.

Best wishes for the future modifications Cara

We're trying to destroy someones self-esteem here skyla, you're destroying it with logic :( nuh i'm withdrawing my evil comments.

I have to disagree with DAN 666 on this one. The biggest thing you can do with a N/A motor is to make it breath better. What docos have you seen that suggest filters and the likes wont help? The motor gets its power by the amount of cold air that flows into the motor. Depending on where it is sitting, will depend on how much of a benefit you will see.

Will it add more power to the motor? generally no, but it will free up alot of power. There lies the key, its freeing up what is available.

Just because you have been round the street a few times, doesnt mean you know everything. I think its in poor taste to jump onto someone's thread and tell em that they have wasted their time and money on something that you really dont understand where she is coming from. Would you tell someone with a ugly baby that the baby is ugly or would you bend the truth? Would you tell a girl that you wanted to bone that she was a dog in a certain outfit?

Cara the car is hot, no doubt about it. Is it a money pitt? arent all cars? how many cars actually make money when you spend money on them? Actually, how many skylines make people money when they go to sell them? It is really one's opinion against the others, im sure there are alot of people on here that spend alot of money on their N/A's.

Good Luck with the problem Cara, when you get it sorted, throw up some dyno sheets, id love to see the power that it makes.

Cheers,

Cheers,

It's an N/A without headwork and cams you will NOT get that sort of power increase with a bloody cold-air intake, if you did you'd see a million Honda owners untapping this "secret" power. The Neo is already optimised as far as it can go with intake flow (have you seen the specially designed dual-inlet tract that activates at ~4700rpm for max torque and power...probably not?)

And if you had clearly read the first post I said nothing that could be taken as offensive, it was when she fired-up for no reason I thought it reasonable to put her in her place.

And as for the ulgy baby and ugly dress, both times I'd tell it how it was...I'm not here to massage egos and missinform, you ask an opinion you get the truth, better than telling a load of bullshit to make people feel better. I see this all the time in the medical industry and it makes me f**king sick.

Doctors/Nurses that tell Liver cancer patients that medicine today is good and they'll be fine, when statistics show a >10% survival rate for the first 5 years...they're basically trying to make someone feel better, it isn't the way of doing it especially when they find they actually don't have long to live, but the doctor was trying to be "nice"

And clearly you've got no brain bringing it back up again, I said it was over and Cara had obviously chosen not to carry on....so can we just keep this as finished. Anyone that has owned both a 25GT and GTT and can actually comment on both engines with some actual relevance can post...so hopefully that's no-one else.

    • Nah, the car seems to run exactly as it did prior, in saying this it does "seem" to be better down low, like more eager to rev, but that may be 100% placebo effect from intake noise But, I'm not worried about it at all, in the end it is a fairly low compression NA engine that has a well shrouded intake,  if it is getting hotter IAT I cannot notice anything negative performance wise from the seat of my pants thrashing it about on the street or sitting in traffic, so meh, car now now makes induction noise so I'm happy
    • Do you have an IAT sensor? It's worth checking it to see. You may be suprised how little gap you actually need to flood your engine with hot air. (I tape up my airbox for a reason) :p
    • @KinkstaahKrinkle paint the "silver" alloy, not the red filter frame Engine bay heat won't be a issue worth worrying about as the silver alloy blocks it off on 3 sides, as for the top, the bonnet seals most of it and the big OEM CAI intake snorkel is still fitted in its original position  I will head into Clark's Rubber when I have some time to grab some pinch weld to tidy up the alloy after I paint it As for performance, I honestly wasn't expecting any, the only reason I got it is because the intake noise sounds cool to my old ears when I'm feeding it the beans Sometimes it's the silly things you do in in life that gives the most fun, and I do love anything that makes cool car noises In other news: I survived 4 nights at sea with Jackie not throwing me over board, holidays are continuing now as we are currently chilling at the Beachcomber in Toukley, after taking the coast roads from Sydney in the MX5, top down all the way, Toukley is where I spent a good deal of my youth holidaying during the summer months, there's lots of reminiscing going on,  and lots of beaches and old houses to visit Next on the list is to head to Batemans Bay for a few days, but we will take the Commodore out to stretch its legs, then Commodore hasn't really moved for months
    • There’s probably people who’d like to do it and then when it comes to putting their hands in their pockets they’ll all disappear into the shadows
    • interesting....sounds like the later trans has software differences (or AM vs JDM). If I wasn't going down the tuning route it would be worth looking into retrofitting a new computer to the old box.
