ok, so i read the diy which was handy but unfortunately the pictures aren't working and i have a poor command of stereo terminology which made it a little hard to understand. mainly i don't know what an ISO is. is that just the white and red plugs?

now i have a feeling this was covered in the diy but when i took the stereo out i was confronted with a white plug (attachment) instead of the ol' white and red plugs needed for my new head deck. is there just an adaptor i can buy which will convert this? also, in the top middle-ish of the picture you can see there's a wire clip thing that just sat under a bolt in the old head deck. what's this for and do i need it? because my new head deck has nowhere for this thing to hook in. cheers! sorry if my descriptions are poor

from the picture you posted up it aprears to be a clarion plug.thats not an ISO plug.

these are ISO plugs

is the other end of the white plug's wires solderd into the loom coming out of the car? if they are are the factory plugs still attached or have they been cut off?

if there cut off your out of luck and will need to solder in the new loom that came with your CD player.

if they havnt you can purchase some adapter plugs to go from the nissan plugs to an aftermarket radio harness such as the one from your CD player.

and no no one makes a plug to go from that white one to one for another radio.

the black wire is an earth coming from the clarion plug (white one) and needs to be earthed to a decent sized bolt.

cool, well i'll pull it all apart again tomorrow and take some more pics. and no, i'm not in adelaide, ACT i'm afraid

thanks for your help!

ok, so took it apart again and got some more snaps.

so as you can see the old head unit has a bolt for the earth to slide into and the new head unit doesn't. do i need it?

and here's what the clarion cable goes back into

and just to clear up, the black plug is power and the grey is for the dash controls? i thought it was the other way round in the diy, but the black was the one plugged into the head deck and the grey one was just loose.

and lastly, what the hell is this for?? it was just loose.

thanks guys, much appreciated!

oki doki, the way your old head unit was earthed was just dodgy and lazy.it should have been earthed to a decent bolt or screw arount that area, theres one just under the rubber gear shifter boot that you can use.

from the look of the plug on the back of the new unit you have it apears to be a sony so you will need to get yourself some of these

http://www.aerpro.com.au/list.php?pcode=AP...=10&cat_sno=

that one is to suit the cars plugs

http://www.aerpro.com.au/list.php?pcode=AP...=10&cat_sno=

and that one to suit your CD player, they will interconect in the middle so you you end up with one lead that goes from your car to the CD player.i beleve some people have had issues with the plugs not working because the earth in the new plugs was not correct.so you will have to cud the earth wire off the car side of the plugs and put an eyelet terminal on it and earth it to a decent place (as i mentioned before).

the big black plug in your seccond to last picture is your antenna plug. i dont know what the grey one is,possibly the trigger wire for the booster that goes with the antenna in your front windscreen.if you plug it all in and you find you get really poor radio reception then that is more then likly what it is and you will need to hook the P CONT or ANT CONT wire up to it. if your radio only has the ANT CONT that is fine.

the big black plug in your last picture apears to have been taped into the power for the cigy lighter so is obveiously not factory and you can just leave it be.

The Aerpro plugs are available from autobarn, strathfeilds etc etc,if they dont have them off the shelf they can be orderd in for you, they will cost you between $14.99 and $20 each.

hope that sorts you out mate!
