i'm looking for some turbos for my GTR but cant seem to find anyone who offers what i'm after

i'd prefer to get the HKS GT2530's but everyone who has them seems to buy them from yahoo japan, then ship them.

ebay wants $3900 +actuators

nengun wants $3225 +actuators+shipping

rhdjapan wants $3200 +actuators

slidewize imports wants $2420 (used 8000kms???) +actuators

the next choice would be to get the Garrett GT2860-5's which usually retail around $1400 each

while the cheapest supplier seems to super cheap auto at around $2300/pair (after staff discount) +actuators

however these are not exactly bolt on, they require minor modifcation to the oil system

also super cheap auto order through 'rocket industries' who i've emailed, and i cant tell if they get the get the turbine housing that fits nissans or not

Also how come noone includes actuators anymore???? they are around $250 extra

the main reason i'm asking this is

1. i have heard bad things about nengun

2. i want to make sure that if i pay over $3K to a company, they will be in business long enough to deliver the goods

3. i'd much prefer new turbos

maybe i'm just being paranoid but its alot of money. But where does everyone buy their 2530's

cheers Trent

All companies have good and bad stories.

I bought about 8k worth of parts from Nengun and the stuff turned up without a hassle. I even slipped passed the 10% GST and 10% stamp duty which you pay on anything over 1k. Correct me if I'm wrong on that one.

I got a set of HKS GT-SS turbos from a company called CJ motor off ebay recently. They were really good. It came posted from QLD to Sydney 2 days after the payment went through, and was new. Everything was in the kit, turbos, actuators, gasket kit, nuts and studs, and wastegate vacuum line. The price was heaps better then anywhere else I could find. Only problem is the instructions were from HKS and all japanese. I'm a mechanic though and Ive already replaced the turbos once before.

CJ motors is definitely the way to go

My GT-SS came via nengun, thats $3300 worth of gear

Plus all the other stuff. The only issue with nengun is delivery times can be off by 2-3 weeks at times. Sometimes a bit more.

But other than that they dont run away with your money.

Any turbos that need "modification" to anything i wouldnt be using. They wouldnt be RB26 replcaement if they need mods so who knows what else you'll need to do.

Just get them from nengun/greenline etc

or get -5's locally... they are the same thing anyhow

cheers fellas,

cj motors is the ebay price i listed above ($3900) i think thats a bit hexy, and they don't have actuators anymore

r31nismoid, i agree, they're not bolt on if they need to be drilled out!!

Or you can email the HKS Australian Distributor on [email protected]

They have them in stock and ready to go for $3879inc. Actuators are extra.

The GT-SS come with actuators as do the GT-RS but the GT2530's accept factory actuators or HKS have the actuator upgrade to suit. I think Performance Wholesale has them in stock as well for $290inc

Cheers

Pretty sure that everything Garrett will be supplied ultimately through MTQ (in NSW, they are in Wetherill Park don't know about other states).

If you are a super cheap staff member you should be able to call MTQ up directly; both times I've had to call they've been knowledgeable and helpful.

That should let you know what the 2860s will actually come with and what will be required to connect them to your car. e.g. the T04Z I bought

came with the manifold gasket and the v-band clamp and flange (something that some other suppliers wanted a couple of hundred extra $$$ for).

It's also probably worth poking around this forum a little for any anecdotes from people that have actually done that install.

As others have said, it might be worth paying the extra $$$ to get a 'true bolt up' kit... fabrication and/or extra labour

could eat up the savings you made on the turbos themselves if you're not careful.
