Decided to have a look at my ECU and it's wiring since I was unsure if anything had been done to it by previous owners. I have noticed that there are a couple wires been spliced into. One main one that has 2 wires spliced into it is YELLOW with GREEN stripe. Now I have found the R34 ECU pinouts from this site and from what I can figure out is that it is the Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal at terminal 29. If this is in fact correct, could I use the wire that isn't connected (Photo - Blue wire) and connect it to my Greddy Ful Auto Timer to get the full functions from it? The manual for that say's that it needs to be connected to the Speed wire, which I assume is what this is. The other thing that has me interested is the big Brown Plug in the photo. It has a cover on it which seems to bridge the pins when it is on. Could this be for a piggyback unit of some kind form a previous owner? If so, anyone know what it fits? Also, one other thing that I noticed is that with my Aerial's for my radio (These are hard strips running either side of my front window), the one on my drivers side also seems to be wired into the same wire that I was talking about first up. The Yellow/Green wire. Any ideas on this one?

Anyone in the wide bay area that has a series 2 that would be willing to have a look to compare? Or could someone post up pics of their ECU Wiring?

Thanks

Dave

did you buy the car from a private sale or was it imported in

if it was a private sale - give the guy a call and ask (no harm in that), If he did have a piggyback on it then your halfway there (as in you have the connections for it already) but i would check and make sure the connections where they are spliced are good

It was a private sale. I just got off the phone to the guy that I bought it off and he has no idea if it did or didn't. He knows it didn't have one when he first bought it but that's not to say it didn't have one in Japan. He was the first Aussie owner.

if that is the "vehicle speed sensor" it is the rpm signal, very common to splice into it. no way to tell what it was for though.

the brown plug is just the "common earth" just provides a stable earth for all of those wires.
