Hello hello guys!

A bit of a dillema. My wheel bearings have been failing for quite some time im guessing as i just brought the car and they havent been fixed or replaced by the previous owner, just wandering if this does any damage to the rotor or any other part of the car if u keep them on even though theyre failing??

thanks in advance!

well they get noisey long before they die which is the good news.

the bad new is, if you really do leave it long enough to fail it will sieze, instantly locking the wheel to the hub. depending on how fast you are going it could be real interesting (I've seen a few race cars with seized wheel bearings).

the other bad news is they are a relitively expensive (compared to say a falcon/commodore) and need to be pressed in and out, which makes it a job for a workshop

Changed a couple of rear ones on the mates 300zx. Cartridge type bearing $150-200!

Definately need a press to do them, as you have to press out the hub spline.

Inside these bearings they use a plastic bearing cage!
