Hey guy's been expierencing some major problems with my 4WD System lately and was wondering if there's anything i can check befor sending it off to RE Customs on a tow truck.

The car drives fine for 5-10 mins then my 4WD lights comes on and from there my car starts to jerk down low, clears up abit if i put my foot down and when i turn corners or driving very slowly its like i have a minispool and the wheel has trouble turning.. Sometimes feels as if its leaning to one side in the rear.

If i turn the car off for 5-10mins and start it up its fine agian until the 4WD without doubt comes back on. I've also noticed the 4WD light will come on if i put a fair bit of pressure on the brakes.

run the Attessa diagnostic for starters, this is for a S2, not sure if it works for S1s.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/4w...=4wd+diagnostic

check your attessa fluid level

make sure all your 4 tyres are exactly the same, brand/size/wear etc

check the 4wd fuse

thats what happened to mine when the cd stacker shagged a attessa wire, resulting in shorting out engine-bay Big awd fuses

1st check

2nd check, fluid and air pressure

3rd check, attessa been serviced lately? Im waiting on an 0-ring seal for mine, only (lightest of light) leak in my entire vehicle.... keep it serviced and in good knick.

expensive to repair / replace

i was at RE customs wedensday night with my s2 .. and they said your's was coming in on a tow truck .. later that night i launch my car into traffic (auto trans) road was wet ... little bit of slip when i hit the white line .. and it felt like the car put its own engine retarder on ? didnt help my situation of trying to slot into traffic and i hit about 20-30kph's and it slow's back down to 15-20kph's then straighten the steering up again and off it goes ... this is my first 4wd car by the way it may be common i dunno .. i was just dumbfounded by that. but i had no lights come on or anything

IMO, that's common, it's the 4WD drive system kicking in..the ATTESA system is like what the GT-R has (guessing here). most of the power is at the rear, once the rear steps out, power will transfer to the front to straighten it up.

This is my "first" 4wd car I owened but i have driven alot of 4WD Nisssan's and pretty much the same. For me it felt like the car was going to fall apart. You'll get use to it and surprise alot people off the line (just love that nobody know's it's a 4WD let alone what it is)
