Hey guys, just wondering how to keep the TV/GPS screen on S1 stag active while driving. When I first got the car with standard stereo etc it i could see snow when driving, now that I have got a headunit installed and running visual through AV2 it cuts out as soon as I put it in gear. Even when I try to view what I was seeing before the install.

Is there a way around this? I expect there is as I know some people out there are running GPS through this screen. Maybe when they were installing the headunit they did something, or is it just s setting or something?

I've tried doing a search but after several hours of reading I still havn't found what I'm after.

Thanks for your help guys :D

depends on the setup, but from my expirience, there is a wire connected to either the handbrake or gearbox, when the hand brake is on or the gearbox is in gear the circuit is completed and the tv shuts down, you will have to disconnect this wire.

all depense what you have. but if you pull out the screen it should have a 'to handbrake' or sumthing wire... unless its stock then mayb they might be a little more safe haha. but its just a matter of grounding that wire.

hey guys not to be a damper but be carefull what you post as it is Illegal and im sure a mod will delete your comments ban or warn ya's in some form. keep it private.

You need a special harness that plugs into the back of your screen, looks like this:

http://www.amazon.co.jp/Datasystem-00TV-KI...3/dp/B000HP5J4A

It is not as simple as a handbrake switch, its a very complicated little harness.

Most/all japanese install them as soon as they leave the dealer, so look for a small button or black box, as in pic. Might have been 'touched' when your stereo was installed.

If you have no luck, i have a spare one available, pm me.

Yeah cheers chook, just the sort of info I was after. I have some wiring and stuff that was removed, will have a look to see if there is something there that resembles the unit you posted. I'll also ask the installer if he touched/saw something as well.

No idea, I can't remember the branding on mine.

I can however remember atleast part of what was written on it "......so you don't miss your favorite show when you're behind the wheel" Aren't the Japanese so safety consous

other than in Japan, or possibly a Japan Yahoo site such as http://www.importmonster.com.au , 2nd hand ones are cheap there, or try Chris Rogers, part # datasystem NTV142,

http://search.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/sear...=0jp&acc=jp

These are only for the factory xanavi screens, not for aftermarket.

I've ordered the "Data Systems / TV-KIT NTV142 / SUTEJIA W # C34/H9.8 ~ H13.10" through nengun on the japan yahoo auctions - next question... how hard is it to install with instructions in japanese??

for my dvd player handbreak wire is just earthed.

for an aftermarket headunit, that's all it'll be. run it to a switch so that you can prove to cops that it's legal though :P for the standard xanavi unit though, you'll need the harness like Chook said.

plug and go. I sell a few of them myself.

getting arounf that unit is best done with a bypass. there's too many wires to fiddle with otherwise.
