Pod Air Filters

Um, I've got an R32 GTR with lots of mods running about 300 RWKW and I'm running the std airbox. I heard that pods give a much more audiable induction noise, but that they must be boxed so as not to be sucking in the hot air from the engine bay.

If so how is this best executed? Are there any other implications of doing this? I guess I'd like a few more exciting noises as right now I've really only got injectors and exhaust. Be nice to hear the induction and the turbos.

So you get your pods and then strap this over them. Where does the air get into the box? also ,what will this set up do for me? More induction nosie and will I hear the turbos? Cheers.

Yeah, more noise definately. You may get a very slight power increase.

Does anyone know where to get an air box like the one in Doski's link for an R34 GTR???

In all honesty your better off keeping the stock airbox.

There are a number of cars making BIG numbers off the R32 airbox...

Pods only decrease performance of a streeter, in/out of traffic etc. All it does it suck up hot air.

Gotta ask yourself what you want.

thanks Nismoid. Performance isn't the issue as there is plenty of that. Just looking for a bit of added wank factor. If that's going to cost me performance, then I'll pass on it. I notice too there is some possibility of this mod being illegal unless engineering which sounds like a pain to me.

you should probably budget to buy 2 blow off valves too.. each bov must have dual trumpets.

along with pods and possibly the word HYBRID prayed across your fmic, you should be all set for wank factor.

Yer mate stock airbox is well capable of big numbers as they said.

Maybe replace the stock panel filter with something better.

Legally you'll be ok if they are not oiled pods.

EPA ruling states you are allowed one intake modification.

So if you have the stock cooler, pods are OK.

No Engineering required in that department.

EPA ruling states you are allowed one intake modification.

So if you have the stock cooler, pods are OK.

No Engineering required in that department.

i'm not running as much power as 300rwkw, but i've reverted back to the standard airbox with the bottom half taken off and seen no power loss opposed to a pod filter. i like to keep everything looking stock.
