if done with the correct interface lead - no loss at all. in regard to the previous fix onthe stacker - did you get the WHOLE lot changed or simply the dud guide replaced.

also to pop that JVC unit in you have to spend $6-700 more on panels, controllers and leads.

With my previoius fix? I just pressed button combination to manually eject or whatever I could find at G35 driver. After non-success for 10 min, it decided to spit it out. However, now it sounds like it has a mechanical issue.

Wow... Just to install the JVC thing 6-700 bucks... Is it because it is single DIN? Would double DIN be cheaper? Or it is just the way it is with changing head units?

Hi all,

Thread revival!

I have a close family friend who has the same issue. He has V35 premium coupe with factory 6 stack Bose/Navi system. It has the same error as the OP mentioned.

The CD system makes a "grinding" sound and eventually stops. Radio and AUX seem to be OK.

Just wondering who would be the best contact in Melbourne to either fix the HU or replace it with an aftermarket one if need be.

The issue is rather sudden - there were no tell tale signes before the problem. We have tried doing the reset etc, with no avail.

We are not confident to pull apart the dash ourselves - So we prefer a "one stop" shop to perform the job.

Fixing it will probably cost more than replacing it.

For your one stop shop, tell your friend to give Nuwan a call. He is based in Bayswater.

He did my double DIN replacement with fascia and kit etc. He also did my immobiliser + alarm. No complaints and more importantly, he knows the Vs (complied over 60 of them) and has fairly reasonable pricing.

Tell him that Keith sent you. His number is 0422807393.

BTW, tell your mate he is welcome to join us for the Meet & Greet on Friday (24 Feb) at Garage Cafe in Carlton. See separate thread for details.

Cheers,

Keith

Thanks for that. I've passed on the info.

Got the same problem on my new import!!!!!!!! So anyone know if its gotten cheaper in the last 2 years to fix this problem or get a double din interface???

Also Chris, mate have you got around to fixing them in bulk???? ;)

given that parts for these things died out in 2007 or so - nope. remove and start again.

How much is it for the double din fascia with dual zone aircon and harness to connect with factory Bose system.

Cheers

send me a message with a photo of your dash. I will say not cheap though.

hey mate, tried to pm you with a picture, sau wouldnt let me, came back with a error saying "this member cannot receive message"

Thats telling you that the tv is blocked whilst driving. It will go away if your handbrake is on and your stationery. An english conversion will fix that.

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
    • I hope that is not something that bad. From what i remember he said that only first gear is "hard" to get in and that he has couple of ideas what to try next but idk 😕  hope it is not gearbox out. I will let you know.
    • If it's not the hydraulics, it is probably gearbox back out. Usually as per @Duncan's post, or otherwise associated with not getting the throwout fork positioned correctly. All the way up to catastrophically bolting shit back together without it being aligned properly and wrecking the clutch/input shaft/flywheel/something else.
