What? Im sure those who dont easily qualify would have been considered. Obviously you want to participate.

This f**ken sucks.

Yeah i do want to participate but DECA for me is about FUN, for some its serious competition and if there are only 20 cars or so there, its boring.

No we can't do a normal one sorry - there just isnt the time to get it set-up and it is too close to November.

And definitely NO we aren't doing the full track in November. November will just be a normal one with normal events and normal rules. And all people call Norm are most welcome to come along.

Guys fair go here.

We already were well down on numbers and then I had a bunch of people pull out at the end of last week which left us with just 9 entrants. Given the nature of this event there were a few extra costs so really we needed all 20 entrants just to cover them, but we would have run with as low as 16. But 9 was far too few and we needed to make a decision on the spot in order to still facilitate a venue refund.

I'm sorry but for what ever reasons there just wasnt the support for this event which is a shame as it was a unique opportunity to do some different things and for the people who have been coming to DECA for a few years now to possibly experience the next level in motorsport challenges. I'd been looking forwards to this since we first facilitated the idea late last year so I'm as gutted as anyone that it hasn't happened and the sad part is it will make the club think twice about trying some of the other motorsport idea's that the committee has been looking at.

How were we to know the event was at risk of being cancelled? Up until last night the list said there were something like 16 entrants.

Maybe informing the members of the situation may have mustered up the extra few needed?

Email was sent out to all members addresses in the SAU-Vic database on 28/8/08 5:36pm. Went something like this:

Dear Member,

We would like to make you aware that entries are now open for our MiColour DECA “Masters” event held on Saturday 20th September 2008 in Shepparton.

Please take the time to refer to the event schedule here: http://sau.ferni.net/DECA/0805_May08/DECA%...%20Schedule.pdf

As you will see this event adds a whole new level to our DECA events. The skidpan sub-events require a fine touch and put new meaning to the word motorkhana. The back track events (Mini-Wang and Long-Wang) are much longer and faster than before and they WILL blow your socks off. As you can see we will be doing two full laps of the Long-Wang, and the Mini-Wang in reverse is quite possibly the most fun event we have ever done.

The entries will be limited to 20, which will give each entrant far more track time than ever before, but to compensate the price had to be raised to $200. However entries so far for this event have been low and we will need to consider cancelling the event if we don’t see a few more by next mid next week.

If you’re concerned about if you qualify for this event, don’t be. Feel free to contact myself Chris (Scotsman) or Andrew (Snowman) via PM on the forums if you wish to discuss. Most entries will be accepted.

Yeah I think a few people have got the wrong idea about DECA Masters. It would have been more fun than a "normal" DECA, because the events are longer to suit the lower numbers and give you more driving which = more fun.

Perhaps we should have called it DECA FUN instead of DECA MASTERS.

I know I was going there with the intent to hang it out and enjoy this DECA rather than compete with anyone.

    • I don’t really have any ideas how to set the timing on the CAS 😂, sounds like the top, sounds like it maybe misfiring as well as ticking,  got the box sorted 😌, must of been a air bubble on the clutch side
    • Use a 2' length of hose (that's 2 foot, not 2 inches) as a stethoscope to localise the source of the ticking. From cam covers? From exhaust or turbo manifold gasket? From injectors? From lower down in the engine? Etc. Use a timing light to set the timing. Put Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the box. It's not the very best thing for the box, but it will take a box that refuses to engage a gear with other oil, and make it engage a gear. I had to put it in when I installed the R33 box I have in my car. It would not select ANY gear when running. Smurf jizz made it work. That was >10 years ago and I still use it. I'm stuck with it now. Failing that - rebuild the box.
    • Well done Duncan. The fuel tank bulkhead lid is also in great condition (some of mine were stuffed). These are now out of production and good ones like that are becoming hard to come by.
    • Wow that's a steal, you've done well there.
