Normal Headlights Turn Off When High Beems Come On.

I just went to get my car a pink slip, and they said i need to fix my headlights. When i turn headlights on, i get the two lights working normally, but when i put on high beems, they come on, but the normal headlights turn off. anyone know if this is a known problem? or where to look to fix it?

Im going to try fix it on the weekend, but if anyone has any suggestions that could help, it would be appreciated. I was going to check the wiring around the headlights.

There is a mod you can do to keep low beam on with high beam on in here somewhere (search)

every car I have ever owned did this standard

Though I modded some so they didnt due to lousy standard lights

Where ever you went for that pink slip, I would never go back!! It is perfectly normal.

Yeh i would steer clear of any place that does "pink slips" and doesnt know what the hell is going on with high beams and driving lights.

Sound like absolute tools to me.

apparently most modern cars do what they are expecting. ours dont though. they need to be modded as you have found out

My R33 keeps the lights on with highbeam, maybe its because there xenons?

Anyway, you can probably challenge the pink slip in writing...

You might like to point out to the "pink twit" that it is only a single filament bulb (for low beam). Of course it will go out when you switch to high beam.
