Gonna supply a compressor map or just pics and no specs?

rick_2008aug16_051745.jpg

Those dimensions in the picture are wrong.

For it to be an 85 trim, the wheel diameter on the outside of the turbine has to be 87mm not 85mm as it states. If the wheel were 85mm it would make it an 89 trim.

So...if the wheel diameter is, in fact, 87mm as I suspect, then this is just a polished GT4508R

Apparently not, its a different wheel and uses a 8.2mm shaft, reading on supraforums

it sounds like the gt4708 comp wheel is better.

As for turbonetics turbos, they were shit up till the release of the new gtk lineup

with there old wheel designs, but apparently the gtk is the shit, especially if you are looking

for a big single in the gt42 size range, as as a bonus i guess they use a bigger range of

T4 housings instead like there oldschool gt66,72,76 etc range, so would make turbo matching

easier.instead

of the big T6 42 housings. I woudn't mind trying one if i was starting from scartch again

a mr.turbo 76GTS with a .96 t4 housing, i would have one of them before a pos t51

garrett. Or a gt 4202 with the optional .91 T6 TA housing.

Or if you still drive it on the street a lot, the gt4294 with the T6 .91 housing

works well and isn't use much. Or even better the if you got a bit extra

coin to spend a mr. turbo Gt70GTS with the .96 housing, comes with the billet

borg warner wheel like the Precision 71GTS if you want to google that and have a

read, should spool good and still make big power, nitrous will do the rest.

have a read of the supras that run it, very popular turbo for street/strip.

I have just converted my Gt4294 to a T6 71GTS with the addition of a borg

warner billet 70/71 front wheel, Can't wait to try it

That's not hearsay, that's a fact. The dimensions given in that diagram calculate at a trim of 89. They are saying trim 85.

Do the math, either they have reported the wrong trim, or the wrong wheel dimension.

Don't know, i just realised it said 4508 in your post, i had 4708 in my

head for some reason

Yeah, not sure why they have done that. It would be good to know whether they have reported the wrong trim or wheel dimension. I'm guessing it's the wrong wheel dimension. If they have mis-reported the wheel dimension then it would mean the 4508 is exactly the same turbo. Why buy HKS when Garrett have the same product for less then half price. :nyaanyaa:

The Garrett T51R and HKS T51R SPL is the same core but are not the same covers / housings.

The GT4202, GT45 76mm inducer compressor, T51R, HKS T51R, Billet 76, Billet 74, Billet 72, Turbonetics T72, T74, T76, PTE 76, PTE 74, PTE 72 all use essentially the same compressor wheel in different trims.

Don't be fooled by thinking any of them is a newer design. They are very good comp wheels but are all same same.

The New Billet B76-GTS uses a T7 7075 billet compressor wheel that is of the same design but is stronger and lighter.

Other compressor wheels that should be looked at in this frame size are The Billet S72-GTS, Billet S75-GTS and BorgWarner S372, BorgWarner S375, BorgWarner S475. Again all these comp wheels are from the same casting but in different trims. These are extended tip technology compressor wheels (ETT). This is some technology that is fairly new to the performance seen.

These comp wheels have a much lower surge limit, flow more and are exceptionally efficient at high pressure ratios.

The Billet S72-GTS and BorgWarner S372 flow similar to a GT4202 but have a 72mm inducer. The Billet S75 and BorgWarner S475 out flow the HKS T51R SPL by around 8lb/min, have much lower surge limit, and are super efficient at high pressure ratios.

The down side to the BorgWarner’s is they are quite bulky (They are freaking huge) and are only available as Journal bush bearing turbos.

The Billet S72-GTS and S75-GTS are exactly the same size as the HKS T51R but the Billet Turbo's are about 20mm shorter than the HKS.

Here is some comp covers to compare

One of the HKS T04Z compressor covers. Note the extended defuser area.

th_insidegt42compcover.jpg

Garrett T51R .72 A/R Comp Cover. The PTE comp cover is very similar to this but is a .75 A/R

th_insideTAcompcover.jpg

Picture is of the New Billet GTSR Comp Cover as used on all the above Billet Turbo models. It can be used as a reference point for the HKS T51R Comp Cover as well, they are both very similar. Note the extended defuser area and bigger A/R

As Jet-r31 has mentioned the Billet SB70-GTQ and SB70-GTS are absolute animals of turbos. Now they come standard with the Billet GTSR comp cover there is not another 900hp - 950hp turbo on the planet that comes close. HKS T51R KAI, grate turbo but got nothing on the Billet SB70-GTS.

Theoretical fastest spooling:

Assuming they are all in the same A/R exhaust housing.

Billet B76-GTS

Most horsepower potential:

1) Billet S75-GTS

2) Billet B76-GTS, Billet 76-GTS

3) HKS T51R SPL

4) Garrett T51R

Most expensive:

HKS T51R SPL

Cheapest:

Garrett T51R

Recommended Retail Prices:

Garrett T51R, $2600.00

HKS T51R SPL, $5350.00

Billet 76-GTS, $2850.00

Billet B76-GTS, $3100.00

Billet S75-GTS, $2950.00

Edited by Billet Ricky

Weight difference same scales both turbos.

GT4202R = 17.2kg

Billet SB75-GTS = 8.5kg

That would be even lighter with either a TiAL exhaust housing or HKS exhaust housing.

The Billet is less than half the weight.
