Fitting Alpine 12" Sub Box Into Boot Of R32

as topic says

i was told by a mate after i bought it that it doesn't fit just by sitting it in the boot, you need to put it on an odd angle in the spare tyre tub...

wondering if anyone has got a trick way of fitting it nicely?

it will fit,you just wont have a whole lot of boot space left over afterwards thats all.

but from what i've been told you can't just lay it down in the boot because it's too high

perhaps be more descriptive in your question next time and you might get a more descriptive answer.

is the box you want to fit a genuine alpine box or is the sub just in a wedge style pre fab box? if you can take a picture of it.

the pre fab wedge style boxes fit snugly under the parcel shelf in a 32.

and seems you have already bought the sub and box why dont you just put it in and see for yourself lol?

i have the genuine alpine box and i got it to fit in my 33. not sure about boot size difference in 32 tho.

theres a reasonable height difference in the space under the parcel shelf in a 32 compaired to the hight available in a 33.how much clearance did you have between the top of the box and the underside of the boot lid?

Had it sitting in the wheel well for a bit but gets chucked all over the place. Ended up making a wooden floor in the boot and bolted it down. Its the only way to do it if you wanna keep that box. Limits boot space but if you wanted boot space then why did you buy a skyline?

someone told me skylines where great family cars and with the high petrol prices you would save heaps with the fuel economy that you would get from owning and driving a skyline. boy did i get fooled.

Ah... I get worse fuel consumption than anyone i know. Including 5.7L V8's and SR's etc... oh apart from GTR's lol they are REALLY bad

Cant you tell its not a family car by the size and fact that 'most' skylines have 2 doors?

Anyway let me know how you decide to mount the sub as i am interested in any other ideas ppl may have...

yeah boot space doesn't bother me, i just don't want it on some retarded angle and getting thrown everywhere as you said

today is the day i'm going to try and fit it so we'll see what happens, might go and change it for another brand one at JB if it doesn't fit

Make one yourself. A bit of MDF, some screws and some carpet.. Not hard.

I fitted a nice sized box under the parcel shelf with an angled back to use all the available volume against the back of the seat. Still gives me useable boot space. R32's don't really need a rear strut brace luckily.

Yeah i might make a new box for mine just so i can get it up the back of the boot out of the way. Hardly ever use my boot but when i do, its usually big shit..

Its not that simple im afraid,subwoofer boxes NEED to be calculated and designed for the particular model sub you intend on using wit it.

Its like sticking a truck turbo on a little RB20,it will not perform well at all and in the end blow something up.

Im more then happy to design a box for you so you only have to follow my design and build it to spec.

I didn't say that, did bennett or mysterykid? Mine has the right volume for the sub that I had, for the response I wanted (god knows what it is cos that was a long time ago and I don't care that much about it).. just so happened to fit nicely under the parcel shelf with a bit of jiggery-pokery.

yeah i couldn't be assed making my own as old mate above me said, it's no where near as easy as chucking together some mdf

ended up getting another branded box that fits nicely

Jack88 - I already have the genuine box and i was going to measure the volume of it then make it about 10mm lower and adjust the width and depth accordingly to get the same volume. Do you really think this would affect the sound quality?

in answer to both of you, sealed boxes and generally fairly forgiving so a decrese in box volume by such a small amount wont really affect anything,you probly wont be able to hear the difference at all anyway. so you dont really have to adjust any dimentions.

yes thos type s's go pritty well in a sealed box too,for the money there an excelent sub.

EDIT are you planing to just built a whole new box or modify the alpine one? is the alpine one a sealed box or ported?

if its sealed box decresing the volume will just raise the tuning frequency a small amount which you probly wont be able to hear the difference.

id recomend building it equal in volume as the original one just to keep things the same,if your already modifying part of it you may as well do it all properly.
