oh wow, so many bad reviews of 3.

I've been on 3 for abt 2-3 years now. sometime ago had a connection problem, but other than that, not much drama...

although the connection problem did piss me off...

actually come to think about it...

....

they do suck...

bastards...no one helped me with my connection problem or my handset problem...

argh.

my work phone was 3 and they were advertising the whole Skype thing with free calls skype to skype but we made them sign a contract that if the service was poor then we could cancel the contract at no charge. we had around 20 phones on the account.

2 months later after all of our PM's/foreman/CA's were fuming because the phones/coverage was shit we made them return all the phones and upgrade the plans/phones with free calls between everyone on the account at no cost.

thats the only good thing about 3.. they respond well to threats.

p.s. their wireless USB internet are good but coverage on the north shore/eastern subs (where most of our projects are) are a bit sketchy.

Hi all. I decided to go with 3 and give them a go. So far no problems. the phone is pretty good. I've downloaded an application for it that will turn it into a gps lap timer for track work :) You still have to push start but it's better than forking out 600bucks for something that'll get used once or twice a year.

Broom Broom.

honestly the only good thing about 3 is that im no longer with them. I had MANY bad experiences with them. Both the shops and customer

care. The main one that p*ssed me off was when i went on a trip to america. i went to my local 3 shop to inquire about global roaming and

how much it costs. i went to a shop because the people on the phone are too frustrating, and i felt that if this was a 3 shop, it should therefore

represent the 3 company. when i asked how much global roaming was, they asked which countries i was going to. i told them america. he then

informed me that he didnt have the information on him right now (i wasnt aware that this information was available online), but if i came back

the following day he would have it. fair enough, no problem. so back i go the next day and ask again, "yes i have the prices for you sir". great,

so what are they? i was told by this 3 shop person that calls i made from my phone while in america would be at $1/minute, plus a 75c flag fall.

Calls that i received while in america would be at a 75c/min charge to myself. I thought that was a pretty reasonable price for the convenience

to have my own phone/sim there, and not have to worry about organizing other stuff. So i thanked him for his help activated global roaming,

and set off on my journey to america. about a week into my trip, i get a msg from 3 saying "please contact customer service re your account".

didnt think much of it, cos i hadn't used my phone a hell of a lot, but i called them anyway. "Oh hello sir we just wanted to let you know that your

current bill has reached $950" WTF??? surely i hadn't made 10-15 hours worth of calls, i would have used the phone for MAYBE 1 or 2 hours MAX.

I then inquire with them how this could be the case, and they tell me that in america, global roaming charges vary depending on what american

tower im roaming off, and the prices range anywhere from 5 or 6 dollars A MINUTE all the way to 10 or 20 bucks! WWWTTTFFF??!?!?! So i text my

mate who works at the same centre as the 3 store, told him what had happened and asked him to go check the prices with the 3 store again. Yep,

sure enough "$1/minute sir plus 75c flagfall." Needless to say i had a pretty f**ked time for the rest of the trip just thinking about this stupid bill,

and when i got back to aus and rang 3 about it, they said their was nothing they could do because the 3 shop denied quoting me that price and it

was my word against mine. i told them i was more than happy to pay the bill recalculated at the prices i was quoted but they didnt agree. in the

end they ended up crediting me $300, which in my opinion was about 200-300 short. a few weeks later someone from 3 called me and asked how

i was "enjoying" my service with 3. i relayed it to him in a few choicefull words, then he said he would credit $30 a month to my account. I left not

long after that and am now with vodafone, and have been more than happy with them for years. the other thing with 3 is that even though i was

on a cap, there would always be "extra charges" which noone at 3 could ever explain to me, however with vodafone its always consistant.

sorry to have such a bitch but they really fkn p*ssed me off that time n i just feel they don't deserve any good publicity. also the 3 store where i got

my advice from is no longer there, funny huh.

i also note that as i write this reply, there is an ad for vodafone at the bottom of this page indicating free n95 8gb on some plan hehe :)

    • And if you want more power, more reliably, and cheaper, go get the Aussie RB... The 4L Barra and put that in instead.
    • No cats will keep discolouring the rear bar. Sends white paint a weird yellow stain. Cut and polish normally gets it out, but you'll be doing that every fortnight I found.
    • Both heads will be equally reliable or unreliable depending on what you do to them.  Stock the RB26 head will flow more. You have access to the stock intake ITB manifold on the RB26 cheaply which flows really well(1000hp+).   Arguably more aftermarket support for RB26, though in Aus we love our RB30 SOHC heads too.    The only downsides to the RB26 head is if you have a VL commodore and want to keep the SOHC look.  Where you may have an issue is drilling out the rb30 block for the bigger head studs but if you are building a big power motor you'd probably put bigger studs on the SOHC head too.  This is just about finding a good machine shop, sometimes easier said than done.  RB30 head worked can make big power just like a Rb26 head, so really it actually more comes down to what your preference is for your car.  People now even making billet versions of both.
    • 2630s work perfectly well. There is something to be said for just using the 30 head, as it saves all the pain of the conversion, still makes tons of power, still sounds cool, etc etc. 2630 will obviously make more power again, but the differences are not stupidly big. It really depends on whether you're racing for sheep stations or not. If it's dead serious, then it's a 26 head. If it's just for fun, it could go either way. But the 26 head and the effort to get it set up, etc etc, is part of the fun.
    • I've been building a 26/30 for a few years now. I've had the head built with all the good stuff. I had a 32 gtr but blew it up and yes its all going into a vl but im looking for some advice from some RB nuts on pros and cons on putting a 26 head on a 30 bottom end is it worth it Works are as follows Head -Extensive porting 1mm oversized supertech valves Supertech double springs Supertech valve guides Supertech titanium retainers Tomei solid lifters Tomei 270 x 10.25 cams Head drain Bottom end series 2 rb30 block Cp ceramic coated pistons Eagle rods Romac balancer Oil restrictions  O ringed blah blah spent a fortune And will get a girdle because the 30s arent used to handling that much rpm Nitto billet oil pump Hypertune plenum 6boost mani Refurbed astra pump thats the cover for it in the boot I did have a precision 6262 but sold it because drag car life. Currently building the ass end full 4 link floater rear end with a 2 speed  But the dilemma i have is my mate rekens I should just stick with the 30 head for reliability. Has any one had any issues with mounting the 26 head ie compression blowing gaskets etc. Just looking for some advice from people who have gone down this route. Here's some photos. Blew the oil pump in the gtr and decided to rip the motor out at the time and do a full build only to find it had been a repairable write off so went down this path.
