We usually run 4 inch from the turbo and even with our last car which made 720awkw (970whp) in a street R34 it was fine, it was what most would call a little loud but not to bad or droany on the open road at all, it had a small single Borla race muffler at the very rear only.

Our 240z street car also had a full street 4inch system with a borla muffler and we ran 8.7 in full street trim, it was a bit loud but we don't really have to many problems with cops and loud cars here.

Personally I'd go 4inch from the start and never have to worry about it.

Hi Rob,

Where do you get mufflers that big in NZ? I havent been able to find a descent supplier. Closest thing was a custom one made by autobend in chch.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies,

Rob, im only looking at 800engine HP, so a lot less than the 970whp you referred to - which by the way was the gate venting to atmo?

For convenience sake and from the input given, a decent 3.5inch system should be fine especially if i vent the gate externally

cheers

Youll be pressed to make 800 bhp on pump.

Im making 720 bhp with a full 3.5 inch exhaust and dump, screamer is plumbed back into the exhaust, runs a cat and is legal noise.

What Cat did you use Spoolup ? And legal noise ? asin 90 db ? what muffs did you use !?

my guess would be either a catco metal cat or a metalcraft metal cat.. they are the most free flowing legal cats i know of and have used on cars, they knock alot of noise out yet flow incredibly well. especially the 5inch body'd ones

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365.
