Engine Troubles

Hi all, I've been having some troubles with my car over the past month. It started when i went to the mechanic with a leaking injector. And while he had his head under the bonnet the engine cut out. And there it has been living for the past month. He has checked the igniter and that wasn't the problem. I replaced the Air-flow meter and still no change. It was placed on the carbon emmision test and it was running rich, he wound down the idle and all seemed good, I took it for a run up the street, and it cut out 3 times. He put it back on the carbon tester and then it was running lean and still cannot stabilize. I now have a rough idle and he cant diagnose the problem. It takes a few seconds to kick over with a cold start, and fine once up to temp. If anyone has any idea as to what the issue could be any advice would be great.
