R33 swap series2 ECU to series 1 car

Is this possible guys as i need to check the condition of my ecu and i have a series 2 unit i can try

R33 timing is supposed to be 15 degrees but with full travel i get 6 degrees.

But my TOP SECRET Rom advances timing at higher revs and it pings still so i can only run about 4 degrees??

I want to swap for standard ecu and see how it goes and i can only get my hands on a series 2 ecu i beleive they are slightly different
