Jus a quick post as my V35 is due for pick up very soon , i'll havew some pics up when i get it (STOCK).

until then i need some help choosing wheels!

I've already decided in 20" wheels(Staggered) but i need help on opinions.

the car is silver so i was thinking maybie a darker style rim? but maybie not black?

Price preferably under 3K but might stretch abit over if its a really nice set..

I've found a set of Vertini - Hennessy wheels in 20x8.5FRONT(2.5"Lip) and 20x10REAR(4"Lip) which look ok in the picture, but i'm having a little trouble picturing them on the car! these are available for $2950. Pic attached

Sorry im not sure about the offsets!

If you guys could let me know what u guys think or have any other ideas that'd be great!

Thanks in advance

Kari

Of course the car will be lowered pretty far with coilovers also :(

Nice looking 20 inches. Wonder what will be the tyre size though...

Well I'm planning to get this in 19" staggered set... I'm trying to keep it sensible and not too big, just in case the 20s are not lightweight.

Sportec Mono10, a common switzerland rims for Audi/Porsches. Managed to find one in 5x114.3 pattern.

nice looking rim, very tidy and not too over the top, would go well with the look of the car.

me personally am looking for somthing with abit more dish.. but those wheels your posted would keep well with the look of the v35 :)

few things to consider:

1. the v35 is already a pretty heavy vehicle. 20s will add to the unsprung weight. Consider lightweight forged jap 19s?

2. 20s + coilovers is going to compromise your handling and comfort. Choose your spring rates wisely.

3. If you are patient, try and source a set of used jap 19s or try the traders on this forum. 3k should net you a decent set. The v35 is in a similar league to 3 series beemers, c class mercs and lexus...I believe they deserve nothing less than a nice quality set of wheels

At the end of the day its your car though, so stick with whatever u like.

  • 2 weeks later...

i am currently running TEIN Comfort Spec Coilovers on the V35 they are awesome for the ride quality

i just ordered a set of these for the v35 in 19" [with guard hugging offsets] should be here in 8-10 weeks:

If you have the coin to spare, there's a trader on JDM Style Tuning using the nick "thetunersgroup" who is the official importer for HRE Wheels.

They come in a similar style to what Kari wanted in his original post, and they're very high quality.

Kari - I'd also suggest gettin 9.5" wide front rims for more phatness in the dish, unless you can get those 8.5" rims in a custom offset.

    • They've had some weird failures on their brake actuators. One of them was because they added some kind of lubricant to the factory fill brake fluid that aftermarket brake fluid didn't have so it would affect the seals. Another was just mysterious, probably internal corrosion or something eating away at Prius brake actuators. Parts alone for those are a few thousand USD so not a cheap fix.

    • KYBs are typically twin tube, putting them in the lower tier of desireability. Do you just want to replace worn out ones for the lowest cost? I mean, you wouldn't just replace one end of a car, if the rears are a similar age to the fronts, then they are probably nowhere near what they should be, and likely won't be great against brand new fronts. So, to spend ~$800 on 2nd tier dampers, when you could get a decent set of MCA coilovers for <$4k.....? As to the strut tops. 1st up, the Sparesbox site specifically tells you that they are not correct for an R33. Beyond that, why do you think you need them?
    • That's not very Toyota of the Toyota!
    • Bringing an old thread back to life Looking to put some new front shocks in the r33Gtst and the KYB still look ok for a road car. Unless there are any other options aroind that price $200 a shock?  I’d like to replace the strut tops also, is this the correct KYB no. For the strut top, KSM7124?  https://www.sparesbox.com.au/products/kyb-strut-top-mount-ksm7124?srsltid=AfmBOoq-HDru8wSlLnQrhU9gCw_uYdKg8gUQzONY-EQOdnI5iXOWEUjY 341287 appears to be the front KYB shocks part no.  thanks all
