After Mels little bingle with a pole, I thought I'd take a look back to when I crashed my car.

I was young and stupid and just had an arguement with my dad... which didn't help. Not blaming him, as I can only blame myself. I was driving too fast and lost it around a corner. Being really young, and not very experienced, something that could have been controlled, got all messed up. The result was this...

I have since learned from my mistakes and no longer do stupid stuff on the road.

Everyone else who has similar pics, post them up and explain why you learned your lesson. Maybe this thread can show other young drivers that things can go wrong. We're not all as invincible as we once thought.

lol Dale... well many 17-18 year olds do. Unfortunately I was one of them

maybe you mean invincible?

I would hate to be invisible. Streaking would be MUCH less fun :D

Only silly thing I ever did, was juuuuust catch the bumper on a road sign as I was reversing off the verge and turned my front bumper into a big phallus

Thankfully I was in a $500 datsun sunny at the time, so I just kicked it back into place.

I never thought I was invisible in the first place ....

Same here, never thought I was invincible, in fact quite the opposite = I'm very weak & break easily. Ever since in China a simple sickness (like a cold or flu) would ALWAYS cause me to get sick for well over 2weeks (usually close to a month), while everyone else seem to get over it in a couple of days.

Back to topic, my mistake was that I assumed that everyone else on the road knows & follows the basic road rules... (I.E. GIVE WAY TO THE CARS ON THE MAIN ROAD!!! :D )

Well this dude in the REV4 apparently didn't know & the result is:

Photo0097.jpg

EDIT: lesson learn t from that is to treat everyone on a road as a potential treat.

George... that sux :P Time for aftermarket front bar? :D

The car is all fixed up now :bunny: , this happened about 4 month ago, and that dude's insurance company has agreed to pay for the cost.

I didn't get my after market bar :( (oh well you can't have everything), they used a 2nd hand stock bar, repainted & fitted that, but it looks pretty good, car looks new again

Cost was $4kish to fix all that damage, glad I didn't have to pay a cent

Back in the day when I was delivering pizza's in my LX 253 Torana was going round a round-about hit 2nd from 3rd and got the back tyres going, drifted to my exit, over steered and went straight into a road sign. dented bonnet, nose cone and bumper. I had to tell my manager that someone reversed into it in a car park and drove off so I didn't loose my job hahaha

I backed into a 2ft pole once in a carpark in the magna when I was on L's lol. Drove straight back into the parking bay after the crunch, looked behind again from the drivers seat (mirrors and head check), still couldn't see wtf I hit haha. Stupid blind spots, had to get out the car to see the pole.

The only other time I've hit something was the bin lol, also on L's. Reversed out the driveway like normal, looking back but neglecting to use the passenger side mirror, then bang. Jumped out, picked up rubbish, put the bin back, got back in the car where mum was loling rather hard. Then I lol'd.

Neither of them damaged the car, so all good. Well, the pole one left paint on the back of the magna, but that washed off lol.

"Back to topic, my mistake was that I assumed that everyone else on the road knows & follows the basic road rules... (I.E. GIVE WAY TO THE CARS ON THE MAIN ROAD!!! )"

SAME happened to me...i thought the lady would give way to me and at the give way sign...guess not!

I reversed into a bin on my P's. (it was like 5am in the morning)

Was quite funny, was late for work so i reversed really fast then CRASH

I was like wtf? it wasnt even bin day..

& I left the rubbish for my dad to pick up

Maybe next time I should have looked in the mirror.

Totally cracked the side of my rear bumper nd cost $400 to get replaced..

But what makes this story even funnier.

2 weeks before my bin accident my bro was driving my car and got rear ended

Whole back bumper and boot had to get fixed.. so went to panel beaters

They didnt put the lock gadget thing in so i couldnt open my boot,

so i went back back two weeks later and they asked me what happend to my bumper (this was the day i reversed into the bin and i didnt notice id cracked my bumper) so had to get it replaced.

3 days later some lady reversed into my back bumper when i was at work..

back to panel beaters..

Neitherless to say.. the panel beater found it hilarious.

Scraped the side of the garage in my GTR, front bumper scratched but no body damage

I hate Volvo's with a passion so naturally I decided to crash into one (in my old TX3) :(, no pics of that though.

I went driving that day it rained large rocks.... Nah, some idiot threw it through my windscreen, noone in the car at the time though.

This is mine:

First and only crash *touches wood*

Happened 5yrs ago, shortly after i got my licence and was in brisbane at the time. Was outside my mates house late around 2am ready to go home, and he told me to do a "burnout". Not earning that much coin i told him that i wouldnt waste my tyres but if he had some oil to put on the road i would be keen. Anyway instead of just a small splash he sticks a solid 5L of oil on the ground. I did my skid, everyones happy and i take off.

I was driving home be a tool with a mate next to me (he had a lancer, very good runs back in the day lol), and on this main road we top out our cars (stupid speeds). Being the wet season in brisbane the roads were very wet, so i slowed down to the speed limit to take this very open bend at 70kmhr. There was so much oil in my guards that it was still dripping onto my tyres, and with the wet roads, fwd and near on 20yr old suspension i totally understeered. I narrowly missed a light pole, i was still do 70kmhr at the time so it would of been a fatal (not trying to sound cool, but it would of been), then i continue to slide for another solid 60m where hit a bus stop at around 50kmhr, totally ripping the bus stop from its concrete foundations and sent it a solid 20m down the road. Luckly it was 2am and no-one was in there, it would of been an instant death otherwise.

Cops, fire and ambos all were at the scene within 5mins since they were just down the road at another accident. They were VERY pissed at me, mainly because the accident down the road was a messy fatality of another young driver. Luckily no one else was on the road, and i was ok with minor wipelash. I learnt my lesson the hardway, i still drive aggressively but in the wet im a total girl, unless im in an industrial estate, never on the open roads, its just not worth it.

Anyway the car was a write off, but being a 17yr dumbass, it was my pride and joy and it would of killed me to send it to the junkyard (even though it was worth bugger all)

I upgraded all the suspension, with new shocks, springs, swaybars and bushes. Full respray and interior work was done and i slotted a 3SGTE in it with a highflow turbo, spent a stupid amount of time on it and mainly $$$ (all the work bar the seats and paint was done at home)

Then it looked like this:

CelicaNight5.jpg

CelicaInterior15.jpg

P1010003.jpg

Anyway i was lucky enough to actually have a chance to learn my lesson, i'm always hearing other young drivers that never will.

So drive WITHIN you limits, dont be a hero, and mainly dont drive a FWD car around a wet corner with oil dripping on your tyres.... not smart
