shit hey! i wish they would do some real plolice work... anyways, i just love it how the cops secretly admire our cars whilst in the process of defecting.... i got pulled over once and defected (pulled me over for my wheels slipping at an intersection on an incline just after there had been roadworks ie:gravel on road...still my 'bad' driving i guess...), he checked over my car etc etc, then told me how well these things go and told me all about the skyline and how he has driven them before and in fact he had a mate that imports them etc... might be true but i doubt it!

cara is right, a cop cannot open anything that is concealed(locked) without a warrent, eg glove box boot or even under the hood. i have heard bout this also from a few people. if anyone can prove otherwise i would have argued that fact about opening the glovebox, but i have never been defected as i was nice to them bout stuff and dont know how the adelaide cops react.

cheers... michael

wrong.........they can damn well have a look at whatever they like. Ask darren (Deluxe) bout the time he got pulled over and the car searched end to end because they thought he might have had drugs in the car, i know its different but the application is the same.

of the times i got pulled over for stupid shit, i only ever got asked to pop the bonnet once. They have the right to see what is under there...........and if you have nothing to hide why not open it?

they need a warrant to check anything out of sight unless they have reasonable suspiscion. In this case it was the cable hanging out the glovebox.

exactly, just noticed this post afta i wrote all that LOL...................maybe for the PFC hand controller (for those that have them) get the cable threaded through the back of the glove box so it looks eleventybillion times less suspect

Understand exactly how you feel man!! I was defected on the way to Victor Harbour couple of weeks ago - about 5km before VH. Damn it! The cop delibrately made a U-turn at 100k zone after passing by my car. And guess what, "RBT". what a lame excuse!

Asked me to pop up my bonnet.. and straightaway went to the boost controller solenoid area.. "Mate,. this is illegal mate.., I have to defect your car".. luckily no fine thou. put a nice sticker on my windscreen!

Went in to regency last week. As expected, no luck!.. coming friday will be going in for a recheck.. (exhaust was too loud and castor rod bushes)... *sigh*

dam that sucks man.

why cant they leave us skyline owners alone when we are just crusing home or whatever, when there are so many commodores out there doing burnouts and crap like the one the other night at pooraka where they gave chase and lost the ute and then came around the corner and found it slammed into another car and pole and killed himself and the other driver of the other car. bloody crap!

I did that, but with my Profec B ..... http://www.users.on.net/~geekhabitat/glovebox.jpg

Also wired a 12v laptop charger into the glovebox after the picture was taken, and will be wiring a Conzult cable into the glovebox too, so I can run it with my EEE... fun stuff... only thing they'll be able to defect is the boost controller, so it was worth doing... wasnt hard either, just time consuming

-D

i didnt think they could open glove boxes and stuff without a warrant or something cause its classfied as private property? unless u give permission?

as already pointed out but Laws under the EPA Environment Protection Authority give officers the rights you would not believe

under this Act 2004 they don't need warrants any more for basically anything (looks at Pete)

trying to find more info but that's Chops area of expertise finding legislation :)

sorry to hear Dan  that's my big fear one day the big yellow stickering in book will come out i will see how my car goes over the pits but and then fix what it on the 2ndary list that they cant add too :spank::(

yeah pretty much on the money there stevie.

As Ruby said earlier the 1st mistake was to lie to the guy. Cop can look in your car in a public place without a warrant if you give him reason to believe you're carrying contraband or a weapon or if you appear to be hiding something (hence the lie)

    • Let's hope that's not a copy pump either. There were so many copies of them back in the day.
    • Damn it, I was at work last night, and stayed in a room there during the storm with the car outside, but undercover, I just went downstairs and well....there was a large steel locker that has come from some place last night, it wasn't anywhere I could see yesterday, and yeap, it landed on the fraking car....of course it did..... LOL So, I'll need to take it back for paint and panel, luckily it was only the boot that took the hit, so it could have been worse Serves me right for staying at work and getting on the cans with some of the boys
    • Yeah, really happy with how it all turned out As for aftermarket lip, nah, I'm not really a fan for practically reasons on a street car that gets driven everywhere  I did have the full lower kit on my 2015 STI, but found the front lip scrapped alot, even at stock 4x4ish ride height As the NC sits now, with the lowest point of the car at 110mm, so just legal, some steep driveways and steep speed humps will still "just" scrap those little plastic OEM air dam thingies on the undertray just before the front wheels
    • Here's one I help build and tuned a decade ago, Garrett  GTX3071R Gen 1, T3 twin scroll 0.83 rear housing. Went from larger 272 cams down to smaller Tomei Poncams to help with the low end. S13 non VCT motor. Car was purpose built for the track, hence low down was the focus. Note the actual dyno chart shows lower boost, however the EBC and boost gauge showed 1.9Bar (Ignore the torque, I was young and didn't know how to set derived torque)
    • I’m doing some side developments on SR20det S13 engines, its one my hobby cars used it to compare flow capacity of some smaller size wheels. SR20det is one of another JDM legendary engines I'm sure there are plenty of SR enthusiasts on this forum, I will share results some common turbo configurations here. a quick run down of what the car is: Wide body 180sx Type X with black top engine (blue). It has: Stock bottom end Haltech 1500 ECU 5-0 motorsports trigger kit Kelford SR20DET Beehive Spring with Titanium Retainers Kelford Cams SR20DET S13 188-B 268/272 Cams G25-660 Turbocharger in T2 .64 rear housing internally gated ARP Head studs MLS head gasket 1000CC ID injectors Walbro 450L Fuel pump Front mount cooler kit JJR’s 3 inches turbo back exhaust (its too short for the 180sx it had to be extended) Pump 98 fuel Hub Dyno tune So far made 270rwkws at 22psi full boost by 4500RPM. Engine is very knock limited hence a pretty bad looking top end. From previous experiences it seems like SR20dets are happier with bigger size turbine, some thing like a GT30 would make way better top end, but on same time response is lost. It won't be a problem with S15 VCT engines. I'll be testing alternative turbine housing, turbine wheel and possibly dump pipe options for extra flow to resolve the problem and of course E85 would resolve all the issues.
